We love this school! They really foster a child's individuality and the parents are great! Everyone seems to have the same goal that they want a well rounded kid and want to keep learning engaging and fun with out high pressure. There are weekly assemblies that every parent is welcome to attend and you can see how connected the school is from K-8. There is never any disappointment about getting the 'wrong' teacher because there are no 'wrong' teachers. The location is tucked away in a great space that is easy to get in and out of w/out lots of traffic. The administration really listens to the parents. Mike Riera (head of school) is amazing and is a very accessable.

We just finished our kindergarten year and I felt compelled to write about how wonderful my daughter's experience was. The school community is very active with almost all parents participating in some way. The kindergarten teaching team is amazing and my daughter learned so much. She had Spanish, art, music, PE, computer and gardening classes each week. The afterschool program offers lots of enrichment classes (for a fee). The Head of School is truly an amazing person who leads with his heart as well as his head. There are many great choices for private school in the East Bay and we feel so lucky to have found Redwood Day.

My children have been attending this school for the past three years and I am very happy with the school as well as my children's progress. It is a very small nit community and feels like a family learning environment.

This school has a wonderful lower school art and middle school music program. There has been much transition in the last year. How it fares, time will tell...

This school is wonderful! It has been through many changes this past year, most of which have been for the better. The new Head is very experienced and dedicated. He is backed by a qualified administative team and faculty. Starting in Kindergarten, students take Spanish, music, art, movement, and PE in addition to their normal classes. The academic program is rich and integrated. I have ben a very involved parent, but it seems that parents can choose their level of involvement.

The individual attention children get at Redwood Day School makes an enormous difference in bringing out each child's best. The school's administration and teachers are outstanding. We are delighted to be part of the diverse community, and we feel total confidence that our child will emerge from Redwood Day School both academically and socially prepared for her future.

I cannot say enough about the high quality of Redwood Day. The integrative curriculum is supurb, the plethora of specialists (art, music, spanish, computers, PE, etc) provides expertise in all area, and the commitment to social/emotional development as well as academic learning is innovative and well thought out. The kids are bright, active, decent and happy.

Redwood Day offers a great education, wonderful enrichment, and a strong, diverse community. But above all, the children are seen as individual people with unique talents and a variety of learning styles. My child is *happy* in her school--nothing could be better than that.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.

Oops! We currently do not have any student information for this school. We rely on the state Department of Education, the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), and in some cases school administrators such as registrars and principals for this data.
