My daughter started in Kindergarten at Beacon and is now in 7th grade. Beacon is a very nurturing environment and that's great for small children and kid's with various developmental problems. My biggest complaint is their homework policy. Many schools go overboard in the homework arena. Beacon's policy, through 5th grade, is little to no homework, which isn't a good alternative. Sixth grade was very hard for my daughter because homework and time management skills are learned and developed over time. My daughter has been lucky and has had some great teachers at Beacon. Overall, I expect more from a private school.

Beacon Day school is fabulous, my daughter is in the Pre-K program and we could not be happier. The only problem is the cost, Beacon is a wonderful experience and my daughter can't wait to get to school everyday but in regards to this school the old addage rings true - you get what you pay for.

My child has gone to Beacon since the first grade. I have been pleased with the quality of the developmentally learning environment. The classes are small enough for the teachers to provide each child with the necessary attention they need. The school is year round and I highly recommend it.

Beacon is an art based school, with dance ,music, computer, and art classes. Beacon families are very diverse coming from different social, economic, and cultural backgrounds.Parent envolvement is encouraged, but never mandatory. Children are placed in classes based on developmental needs not by age. Beacon starts homework at 5th grade, feeling that it is important to have family time after a busy school and work day.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
