Met west high school is great for students who are exploring the whole new world perspective. From learning how to do creative writing to perusing your own dreams and the mentors are there to teach you and guide you. I've learn a lot of things when I was going to Met west and with out the knowledge, my perspective view of school would be a whole different meaning. All school staffs are very easy to talk to.

I have a junior attending MetWest. While it may not be the best fit for some it is a good fit for him. The internship on Tuesday and Thursday gives his an opportunity to explore his passions that may lead to a career choice. It has been the best of both worlds for my son. He has even been able to take classes at Laney.

I am a former student of 'Mr. Spengler', Principal of Metwest. He is a great leader, teacher, and mentor. I am grateful to have had him as a teacher in S.C. L.A. in 1999. Its exciting to think that many students lives will be changed because of his infinite passion to teache.
I wholeheartedly feel that MetWest High has been the best thing to happen to my son. The alternative was a regular Oakland public school with no structure and a very high student to teacher ratio. He has been given a fighting chance here to learn and grow as a responsible young adult. I think that the student curriculum is awsome as well as having some really amazing teachers who genuinely care for these students. I love this school. Sincerely, Rochelle J. Baxter Parent

In 2011-2012 California used the California Standards Tests (CSTs) to test students in English language arts in grades 2 through 11; math in grades 2 through 7; science in grades 5, 8 and 10; and history-social science in grades 8 and 11. Middle and high school students also took subject-specific CSTs in math and science, depending on the course in which they were enrolled. The CSTs are standards-based tests, which means they measure how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of California. The goal is for all students to score at or above proficient on the tests.
