Despite Being New at this school,I can comfortably say that this school is excellent in my opinion Teacher Quality is Exellent the Work given is Fairly Easy but you really learn from those simple assignments. Since I have been studying at LPS College Park I can say I am very comfortable wih the work and teachers and staff who make you feel at home and really understand what you are trying to say. Honestly This is One of the Best schools that I have attended during 2 years of High School

Having subbed at several charter schools in the area, I can comfortably say that LPS College Park is far and away the worst charter school in Oakland. Less than a mile away are schools with a semblance of a curriculum and school-like atmosphere, but teaching at LPS College Park feels more like being a prison guard than a teacher. The students are out of control and many read and write at a fourth grade level, but grades are high and behavior is poor and unmanaged. Sending your child to LPS College Park is a death sentence for their educational/professional future.

Check the school's Academic Performance Index (API). The API is how the state measures and compares all schools progress and performance. True, this school is in an economically disadvantaged area. They are ranked #1 for similar schools int he area. BUT their growth API for 2010 is 616. The state target for PROFICIENT is 800 with a top score of 1000. If this were a grade that's would be a D or 62%

LPS College Park is the safest campuses in the area the East Oakland area. The campus is closed which leaves students little ability to focus on outside issues in the area. LPS curriculum is one of the best in the area with test scores out raking neighboring school. My son had attended a public school in the area and had lost interest in his academic s. He was resistant at first to attend LPS College Park but after a couple week s he gained his enthusiasm for education and is determined to attend college. All students are on a college track which is different from most schools in the area. They also focus on the whole child social and emotional as well as academic needs. I give LPS a 5 Star!
