EBI fosters inquisitive, life-long learners -- engaged thinkers and problem-solvers -- compassionate citizens who care about their local and global communities. The teachers and staff are as passionate about this as the children and their parents. And they're doing this in two languages!

My daughter loves waking up very morning to go to school. She loves learning new words and concepts in Spanish. The teachers are amazing and treat the children as their own. The children are engaged, enlightened, and learning not only about their community but about the world as well.

My kids are truly happy at EBI, which is the main reason I love this school. They are engaged, challenged, enlightened, nurtured and loved by the staff. Diversity is not only seen among the students, but is cherished, sought after and lifted up in the curriculum. Students at EBI are learning to be global citizens starting in the preschool classrooms, where they learn respect, patience, and kindness as they enjoy music, art and pretend play. Where else can you find that?

My daughter started in pre k and is now in kindergarten she loves it the staff is amazing nurturing of the kids social and emotional as well as their educational needs. The parent involvement is very high so its easy to get to know everyone and we're able to offer really great enrichment programs. It's truly a gem of a school and we feel fortunate to there.

We are in our fourth year at EBI -- my son started in pre-K and is now in first grade. Growing a new school can be difficult -- we know, because we have been there since the beginning. And thank heaven we stayed. The school is FANTASTIC now. The head of school brought a new level of excellence last year, and the vision, and IBO cirriculum, is realized every day in the class rooms. Combine that with the diversity of the students and families, and the very high level of parent commitment and involvement, and you have one heck of a bilingual school. I should say tri-lingual, as the Mandarin teacher for 2nd/3rd grade is starting at the end of this month! Viva la EBI -- an entirely unique and wonderful place for a child to learn to become a citizen of the world!

EBI's situation is still green, but the amazing teachers, the great parent participation and the fact that they are bringing a new head of school with an International resume promises a brighter future. Vamos EBI!

EBI is a new school with associated challenges. We need flexible parents at the moment. We faced some tough realities this year. The generous financial aid and low tuitions made it extremely difficult to offer compensation packages that were competitive enough to attract and retain the numbers of quality bilingual teachers we needed this year. Chronic staffing shortages led to a lot of instability. The board has made some hard decisions, raising tuition and discontinuing the half day program to address this issue for next year. The strength and energy of the overall school community has largely sheltered my child from the problems and I truly believe this school will soon be one of the best schools in the area.

Both of our daughters go to EBI and they love it! We have been very happy with the teachers, the curriculum, the Spanish immersion program, the music program and the staff. It is a great community of parents and is more diverse than any other independent school we looked at in the area. It is an international community and the teachers represent 11 countries! It is a new school and like all new schools has had some bumps in the road. But it has a dedicated board, parents and staff and will surely become one of the best schools around.

My son has been at EBI for two years. He entered speaking no Spanish (we are, unfortunately, an English-only family), and he is, at this point, nearly as fluent in Spanish as he is in English. Along the way, we have encountered truly dedicated and amazing teachers, who are excited about the opportunity to teach in their native language and to share their culture with the students. Similarly, the parent community is nothing short of amazing. I think I saw a statistic the other day that 55% of the kids are from families of color or mixed heritage. Additionally, there are many non-traditional (single parent, two mom, etc.) families. EBI is definitely at the beginning of a journey. But the trip so far has been very rewarding for our family.

I see a great disparity between the school's vision and its execution.

EBI is a wonderful school. My son has been in the pre-k program since the doors opened last year. He loves it. His teachers are warm and bright and his classroom activities are age-appropriate and stimulating. The school community (which is very diverse, racially, culturally and socio-economically) is strong, and there is significant family involvement. People are genuinely excited about being there. Oh, and of course the language -- my son spoke only English when he started, and it is gratifying to hear him now chattering away with his teachers and friends in Spanish. Yes, there have been bumps in the road, but really, far less than I anticipated from a brand new school. In my experience, teachers and administrators are very committed to the school, and responsive to the needs/concerns of parents and children. I feel lucky to be a part of EBI.

Unfortunately I have to echo the concern of the parents who say they love the vision but seriously worry about execution.

I have two children at EBI. Both have attended since its doors opened. They love it! Therefore so do I. Parental involvement is one of EBI's strengths (as it is for most great schools). My children actually speak/understand Spanish now (not their primary language). The teaching philosophy (International Baccalaureate Organization/Primary Years Program) is inspired and internationally recognized. My eldest child is the kindergarten program which seems quite strong. I am very excited about EBI's future.

We love Escuela Bilingue's vision, we have been a little less excited about its execution of this vision. Its a new school so it can only improve but be ready to get involved as they really need parent support and involvement.

We chose EBI for Spanish immersion and because it will continue through 8th grade, so our son will become truly (academically and socially) bilingual. We are very pleased with the high quality of teaching, the curriculum, the diversity, warmth, facilities and parent participation at EBI. Our son loves his school!

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
