Being a student at Envision Academy for three years and being part of its first graduating Senior class, I feel that I must say that Envision Academy is one of the best schools in Oakland. I've attended two other high schools before Envision Academy and can honestly say that this school is very special. The environment at this school is very friendly, students at this school are very friendly with each other and it really feels like a close community. Not only are the students friendly, but the teachers and administrators are as well. There really isn't a time when you can't communicate with any of the teachers and ask them a question about your homework or just say hi, including holiday breaks and summer break. I have felt very comfortable at this school and that is part of the reason I have stayed at this school for so long.

My daughter has been going to Envision since the very beginning and I believe she would not be the excellent, motivated 11th grade student that she is today if it wasn't for Envision. I believe this has all come from the teachers and administrative staff who really care about each and every student. They really do care that my child is successful, and they are helping her get into the college she wants to go to. This school is not easy. The curriculum is project based and if the students haven't completed their work for their assigned projects, they have 'Success Days' where the students stay until the work is done. There is extra help available to kids who need it and I've seen some amazing transformations in behavior and academics from some kids. I've also seen kids leave because they couldn't follow the code of the school. Love this school!

I have a 9th grader and am very pleased with my student's experience at Envision. The school staff, teachers and advisors about students and KNOW them. During the first parent/advisor conference (1 of 4 held during ea year), I was impressed with how well the advisor knew my son, his strengths and weaknesses and the advice offered as to future improvement and success. Confidence is instilled in the most shy student by performing arts class and the opportunity to perform in front of the entire school. Kids speak publicly in front of advisors, teachers, parents, and other students during exhibitions four times a year. I was impressed by my shy son's participation! Lots of project based learning and homework is manageable and relevant . More diversity would be good so Iencourage parents of other races/ethnicities to consider EA. Please don't let statistics discourage you EA is a welcoming place for all.

I am a parent of a 9th grader and I am pleased with what Envision is doing to help their students suceed. I feel that the schools motto must be that Failure is not an option because I see the dedication in the teachers and staff including the Principal. I hope that the admission will continue to grow along with the funding and support from outside corporations and donors. The small class sizes is a plus . I came from a small school and I have attended overcrowded schools as well. It really makes a difference when you are able to have eye contact with the teacher and they can see you as well. For me it was the difference between attending college or not. I am happy for the schools existence and I am sure that my child will do excellent here. Failure is NOT AN OPTION!

Our daughter is a third year student at Envision Academy. The teachers are committed to the success of every student! It is a school policy for 10th graders to present a benchmark portfolio at the end of the school year. The students are required to choose and defend several pieces of their work to a school administrator, their adviser, a parent and a peer. That one experience prepared our daughter to present her art portfolio for a well-known art university. The positive learning experiences at Envision are too many to mention in this small space. If you are looking for a school for your student to be successful, this is the place!!
