This school has been very satifactory for me and my son. He now is in the third grade. He told me that he is learning fractions right now. He has improved his skills in math, science, and reading. I am very proud of this school.

This school is a jewel in densely populated urban neighborhood. Wonderful, talented and extremely dedicated group of teachers who take on many extra activities to support their students learning. Little turn over in staff. Exceptional garden space for learning. Family support by a core group of parents.

Principal Jeanette MacDonald is not willing to work with parents and blows off most of our concerns. The school itself is an odd mix of good stuff (therapists who come over from the Ann Martin Children's Center, a concentration of Deaf and hard-of-hearing students that allows them to have their own classes using (I believe) American Sign Language) and bad (no nurse of its own, almost zero playground supervision due to lack of funding and therefore a lot of bullying and violence, PE classes once every three weeks). We have a first-grader in this school who absolutely hates it because of the bullying. His teacher, Ms. Virginia Wong, is great: she has taught him a lot under extremely difficult circumstances and should be given a medal. But the school itself is practically unstaffed - children are left to run wild before and after school hours.
