I've taught at a number of schools, and I think Madison has a lot of strengths that is not accurately reflected in the GreatSchools score. Madison has a full service school that provides afterschool programs, counselors for restorative justice, family outreach, and health services. The culture of the school is something visitors always talk about. Students feel safe here, and teachers continuously engage in professional development to push the quality of their instruction.

i say that madison is a good school but it could need a better grade level also hi Destinee, Luise, Lamya, and others.
Madison Middle School stands out for many reason. We are one of the District's models of a Full-Service Community School, which means we have the capacity to meet the needs of every child and family that comes to Madison. We have the highest API score out of all the middle schools in East Oakland, at 722 in 2011. We have produced measurable results with our students of color and our student athletes. We host an extended day model, which engages our students in active learning from 8:00am to 3:45pm. We also house an amazing afterschool program, from 3:45pm to 6:00pm, which includes academic support and enrichment opportunities. Madison has a school-based health clinic on campus and one computer for each student in each classroom. If you are looking for a campus that supports the needs of the whole child and families, complete with an exceptional educational experience and consistently strong staff, Madison is the campus for you.
Our mission is to inspire and support families to champion their children's education - at
school, at home and in their community. We are a national non-profit with offices and programs
in Oakland, Milwaukee, Washington D.C. and Indianapolis.
