I am really excited about the upcoming school year! My daughter will be attending OCA as a 6th grader this year, and by looking at today's released scores I know I made the right choice. I am not sure about after school programs or parent inolvement, but the education program is doing great. That is what matters to a concerned parent, especially in Oakland.

This is my daughters first year(Summer School) and thus far it has been great. The school motto is the belief in hard work, and that is exactly what OCA does. The teachers challenge, and the principal supports. This is really one of the best middle schools in Oakland.

I like the school Oakland charter because it is good and small for my kids to be safe and we the parents do not half to clean the school no more and give money to the school like we do before. The kids at charter learn alot this year. I dont care about parents stuff or other things like that because the school is not for me it is for my son and daughter and if they are ok I am happy.

My daughter just completed her first year at OCA and has grwon tremendously in terms of academic, specifically in math. OCA offers tutoring, summer school, and demanding academics. I am very happy to have had my daughter switch to this school. I must state that I was hesitant to say the least, to attend OCA given the dismal reputation and its focus on non-academic matter in years past. As my daughter now prepares to graduate from OCA,and onto High school I can honestly say that I recommend OCA to all those who care about their childs education and not rhetoric that is heard at most Oakland flatland schools. Mr.Lopez tells the students that we are a family and that we will be the best, and the kids and parents now believe. Look out for this school in the very near future as it is a diamond in the making.

I think that this school is the best kept secret in oakland. I visited the school upon the recommendation of a friend. I was hesitant because I heard bad things about the school and its practices. When I visted, I was very impressed with the cleanliness , the learning, the director ... everything. I was so impressed tat I pulled my daughter out of a private school and enrolled her at OCA. I have worked with the school district for more than 15 years and have seen many middles schools. OCA is a gem of a school, and a model for others. I tell all of my friends who are in need of a safe and rigorous middle school to visit.

I hope this time this gets posted! I am very pleased with all of the reorganization that has occurred at this school. In the previous years the schools had alot of shady practices. Mr. Lopez is firm,demanding, disicplined, caring and a visionary. I am thrilled to see the new oca and pray that all the people from the past stay out of the schools way since I have witnessed very dirty parent politics in times past. Mr. Lopez has stated that this will be the best school in Oakland in year to come, and I now believe it!!

This school has had lots of good changes in the current school year. This is my sons second year at O.C.A. And he feels safe and challenged. There are no sports or music but the academic level of the school has changed for the better this school year. Parents contribute there time to help in areas that are needed. There is a school board with parent members that meets monthly.
