I am so appreciative of all of the parents who take the time to communicate their perspectives. This is how we become a better place to work and learn. Every single parent perspective is given careful consideration as we create our single plan for student achievment. Perception is everything! I strive to continue refining our already wonderful school with these thoughts and opinions at the forefront of our decision making so we can do what is best for every child even in tough economic times for education. Not one word of a parent or student goes unheard. I urge all parents to keep up the communication! Communication is so important and its a two way street. Most of you know you can email, call, or walk in anytime and your concerns will always be addressed swiftly at Mission Meadows! My greatest respect to the kids, parents, and staff at this wonderful school With great honor to serve as Principal! Mrs. Golden
Our child came to Mission Meadows with only a few months left in the school year. Our child feels welcome and has learned more than she did at her former school in a short amount of time. She has worked on subjects other than math, which was all the old school cared about. I highly recommend Mission Meadows!
As parents of a 1st grader who began her studies as a kindergartener, we are very pleased by the leadership of Principle Mrs. Golden has exhibited. With staff she has established a no-nonsense, performance oriented learning environment. And with a wonderful caring environment at MME, our daughter enjoys school and is enthusiastic about learning. It is noteworthy to mention that it takes the involvement and attention of parents as well. Our daugher has excelled because of this combination. As importantly, Mrs. Golden and staff have responded effectively and without hesitation to instances were immediate, direct intervention was necessary. She and her staff have shown a willingness to exemplify an un-acceptance of bad and un-acceptable behavior. All in all MME is to us, a very impressive education center and we are fortunate to have this school available to us.
Wow! What a great school. I just stumbled across this website and thought I'd add a few thoughts. First of all, initially, my husband and I were skeptical of enrolling our daughter in a VUSD school. We were wrong! Ever since our first tour of the school, in early August, by the principal, we have not stopped smiling. We can really see how our daughter is being pushed academically to be the best she can be. She loves waking up every morning and getting to school. The staff is amazing, her teacher cares so much and the principal is the most visible, dynamic administrator I could ever imagine. This is a great school.
My son has been at MME since kindergarten and has had fabulous teachers in all teh grades. He's excelled very well and I have not had one issue with any of the teachers or staff. I too am on campus quite a bit and if they "yell" it is to be heard over the noise and get the kids attention and not as a punishment. Let's talk about parent involvement. I would like to see more parent involvment to help with the fundraisers and their child's class when asked to step up and help for a project or event. It seems that it's the same parents that do everything. Be a part of your child's school and education and participate in any way possible. And no, there is no coaxing to write this. I chose to do this on my own!
This is such a great website, I'm so glad I found it! I love that parents can give their opinion about their school experience. My son has been at MME since K and it is a very good school. The principal is amazing! She is young and full of energy and likes to get things done. I have noticed a bit more yelling than I would like and have voiced my opinion about it, but thats the public school system for you. At MME safety is huge and there is a great system in place in case of an emergency. I was told some PTA members were asked to write positive reviews on this site, but as long as their truthful it's probably okay. I love the parents at MME they are very involved and ever present which makes for a fun experience for all.
Mission Meadows is an extremely positive and inclusive school. The teachers, principal and staff are all very caring and nurturing. The number one priority of this extremely dedicated and talented team is the success and well being of the students. Scholastic excellence is the utmost criteria, while remembering to have plenty of fun along the way. This is the beginning of your child's life journey and Mission Meadows, Mrs. Golden and all the teachers are highly resolved to the success of your child and your participation is encouraged and expected. I am very enthused and extremely delighted to be part of the team that makes this school and the students a great success!! Keep up the great work and the ongoing progress to academic excellence.
Love Mission Meadows Elementary! Great staff, Great Principal and an all around Great School! I wish my daughter didn't have to leave Elementary School Next Year.... She's been there since Kindergarten.
Mission Meadows has an amazingly supportive community of students, staff, and teachers. As a SDC teacher I am so proud to be a part of the special education program here that embraces all students differences. Mission Meadows works hard on ability awareness and it shows in the student's attitudes and behaviors towards one another. We believe that every student deserves to feel a sense of belonging and support!
I am an employee at Mission Meadows. I have had the great opportunity to join this magnificiant team last month. I work as a support secretary in the school office. I see the dedication staff give to the students, parents and the community. I am proud to say I work at Mission Meadows with staff that put "action" behind the meaning of putting students first.
My daughter and I love this school. The teachers are attentive and caring. Parent involvement is amazing, and the education is above and beyond. By far, the BEST school in Vista.
Mission Meadows has many unique opportunities for students. Mission Meadows values the whole child. We have more than 200 students who participate after school in art, music, Ukulele class, kids college enrichment, tutoring clubs, etc. Students are high achieving but also know the value of being leaders in sports and extra curricular activities.
My son loves his school! Not only do the different after school activities keep him in engaged, but I love all the family events that are available. it's so nice to see the teacher's going above and beyond even these days of budget cuts!
I have 3 kids that have or are currently attending this school and we have been very happy here. My kids love it. We transfered here from a failing school, and let me say it was the best move we ever made. The kids attitudes changed about school. The campus is wonderful, bright and very personable. The PTA hosts lots of activites for the kids, which my older children still come back for year after year and each grade level plans field trips during the year. Absolutely makes the kids look forward to school and keeps things exciting for them. Great teachers, Great staff = GREAT SCHOOL!
Love this school. The teachers are wonderful and the principal is very involved. My boys have enjoyed their time at Mission Meadows. Thank you for all you do.
with a new principal her leadership is so much better. The teachers my children have had and have are great.
I have two children at MME and we have been extremely happy with our school. The teachers are great and really take time to evaluate each child individually. Parental involvement his high and even with the budget cuts we have been able to have field trips and many fun family activities. Our PTA is strong and we have a wonderful principal Mrs. Shaver. My children are getting a good education and they enjoy learning and that is what is most important.
Eventhough there is a sad state in Californias public schools, Mission Meadows is providing quality and caring instruction to its students. We came to Mission Meadows from a private school. Since coming to MM my daughter has had great progress for a public school. Mission Meadows allows for parent involvement and the communication from the school is excellent. My daughters teacher is 'on top of it' when it comes to education and I feel confident that my daughter is participating in a quality program. Like any school, parent involvement at home helps make a successful student! Besides the education aspect the PTA is good at offering extra activities and after school family gatherings. We were really impressed by the Harvest Carnival this year. There are also many programs to encourage student learning. We love it at Mission Meadows and wouldnt change anything about the school or it's staff.
My child has attended this school for kindergarten and now 1st grade along with two of his closes cousins. One also being in the 3rd grade. From this time frame we all only have positive things to say along with many others. Several whom happen to be very much involved with school, and classroom activities. Teacher involvement has been excellent, everything I'd expect and then some. They have followed up with me very well and kept me in the loop at all times, weather it be from a quick phone call, email, or just a simple little note at all times. I ve even thought in some instances it was a bit too much follow-up for a working parent to know of their child s every move, but of course in the long run we all know it s far much better to be aware of any little thing, than not to be. As a parent looking out for the well-being and best education possible for my child I definitely do not have any complaints at the time being. As for advice to a parent who feels that there child is being under stimulated and the attention is only being focused to the under achiever student at this school. I would recommend better communication with their teacher. You might just find out that s all it takes. I can t imagine a teacher not giving your child more work if your child lacks stimulation in the classroom, or perhaps skipping your child onto the next grade level if needed. That is if your child is indeed much more talented and ahead of the rest of the classroom academically. Education doesn t just have to stop in the classroom. As parents we have a responsibility to our children as well. So now as far as overall quality education about this school I believe it measure up to standards and I give it 5 out of 5! I m sure like every school there always some room for improvement or something we as parents would like to see more of, but with hundreds of parents it would be impossible to accommodate everyone on all their opinions. Therefore I stand proudly with my comment and need not hide my identity. Lorena Arreola
All of my children have attended this school so we have been involved consistently for over ten years. With new leadership this year we are hoping to bring the staff and parents and students together. We have always felt that most of the teachers were there to just 'collect a paycheck.' There seems to be a lot of dissention between teachers. This school really focuses on the lower achieving students and forgets about the higher achieving students. The GATE program they have has improved but is still not the quality I would expect for my child. The focus seems to be test scores and doing everything they can do to bring them up, again focusing on the lower achieving students and leaving the higher students out.
My child started kindergarten at this school and it was not a good experience. His teacher actually quit after many years teaching at this school, partly due to the impossibility of teaching in an overcrowded classrom with only an aide for an hour and a half and such a high percentage of ESL students in the classroom. (In the school year starting in 2005 all the non english speakers were integrated rather than having their own teacher.) We left, too, and now after putting my child in a current California Distinguished school that ranks 10 on the API's, I can see a vast difference. So the writing is on the wall, this is not the place to get a quality education for your child, especially if your child is gifted. The academic standards are average to low. If your standards are low too, this is the school for you.
