If you are comparing this school with a public school, then yes, this a good school to send your kid. If you are comparing it to other private schools, then you can definitely get more for your money at another school. Not all students are taught an instrument only children 3rd grade an up. Spanish is an after school activity that you pay for your child to attend. Their primary focus is Manderin which in Southern California may not be the best option. Biggest concern I have is the extremely poor communication. They make significant changes to the structure of the school and don't let you know until after the fact. The apparent "deal with it" attitude is not appreciated. Like the other person posted before this year was extremely frustrating and disappointing.

Develops honesty: Strongly agree

Every Monday they go over honesty, integrity and fairness with the children. The children are being taught and how it applies to everyday life. The staff applies this everyday so, yes they are developing honesty, integrity and fairness to its students.

Giving a school 1 star because "Competition day events" were not going smoothly and did not make a pleasurable experience for one parent or that the lunch was not great makes not for a bad school. Chances are this parent did not volunteer to cook lunch and did nothing to help - complaining is not help, get involved next time. My son was in public school but was not being challenged. The SAT's is based on English and Math and the English and Math curriculum at Camelot is more challenging than public schools. Latin is taught at Camelot. Latin is the basis of many foreign languages not only will it help in learning other foreign languages but it also helps in Science and Law. All the children learn the violin and another instrument - something not taught in public schools. They teach Spanish which living in the southwest is important. They teach Chinese which has been rated as one of the top 3 languages that one should learn. The focus should be on what the kids are learning not how we were taught.

End of year ceremony today was a joke. Lack of organization, content and execution not impressive, even bad food. Total waste of time for SIX hours! A frustrating end to a frustrating year. We're done. If my kid had not learned some Chinese this year, this rating would be a one star.

We researched numerous private schools throughout Orange County, before selecting Camelot Academy, attending the school fairs, open houses, observing schools during the academic day, completing applications / evaluations and contacting families that attended the schools in which we had the greatest interest. At the end of our search, we felt that Camelot had the most promising well rounded program. For example, children are taught critical thinking and application (not just memorization) of concepts. The class sizes are small with an excellent academic staff who are focused on the individual needs of each child. Children are provided remediation or advancement for individual subjects based on thorough assessment. We have children currently in the Pre-K and Kindergarten classes. Within the first week of school, they had assessed our son and determined that he would be appropriately challenged at a higher level of Math, shifting him, for that subject, into the 1st grade class. We are thrilled with the results that we have seen. Our children are happy, enjoying their education and progressing well beyond our expectations. Additionally, 2013-14 Camelot is opening a new campus.

Profile Completeness

BASIC

Want to improve this school's profile?

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.
