This school is for kids who couldn't thrive and be successful in traditional schooling enviroments. That being said, it is a good enough school if your child was failing before and you want them to have a one on one short instruction and graduate high school. If your child has special needs of any kind of nature then it is good temporarily, however it does not prepare your high schooler for the future or even help out in that respect. It also does not offer any advanced classes and in the grades of 9th and 10th, it is too concerned with state tests so your child does not get the appropriate math curriculum for those grades until later. The teachers every year takes annual vacation time that somehow creates obstacles for their assigned students to achieve their earned credits during the teachers' vacation time.{ like up to a month of credits} They are very slow in sending report cards out. it takes them up to 2 months or more to send them out.I think they do that on purpose so you can get sucked into starting another semester with them. Not very many extracurricular classes and the kids do not seem very friendly.

We found that they were more concerned with paper work than academics. Send your kids to any other high school. Dolus Fraudatio

My son completed high school there. If it weren't for Mr. Chiaverini and the other wonderful people he never would have completed high school.

Desert Sands Charter High School is an outstanding school where the students can work at their own pace, allowing them understand the work better than at a regular comprehensive high school, where they are pushed to finish something at the schools pace. Normally students do not seep in what is being taught to them, whereas my daughter had the benefit to understand what she was learning, especially with her learning disability. The Special Education teachers and staff were very helpful in making sure she did get the education she needed based on what her IEP said. Her grades were better than what we could have hoped for or even imagined. I would recommend this school to everybody and anybody. In fact I have. For a individual based learning structure I definitely recommend DSCHS to any parent or student hoping to give their child or themselves a great HS experience and education.

My son was very far behind before coming to Desert Sands. At DSCHS he received one-on-one attention, and it made him realize that there are teachers who care. Now he has graduated and has begun a career in the military, where before he was headed nowhere. Thanks Desert Sands!

The teachers are really wonderful and they are very helpful and paceint and they really do everything they possible can to help their students be able to go beyond what they thought they ever could do. Thers is not one bad thing about that school,it is honestly a wonderful school, that anybody can go to and make a 100% bet that they or their child will over come any difficulties or unsureness about their school work and their ablity to do well and get on the right track! I personally go there myself and I have made a huge turn around, I have went from the highest (c)'s&(d)'s to out of the 15 tests that i have taken all 15 of my tests have been between(100%to90%)90 is the lowest&this is in subjects I have failed in the past! And it honestly is all do to my teacher(Mrs.Keck)&the staff thank you so much.
