Grateful to: Teacher

There are several people who I would like to thank at this school. Mrs. Koonce is so dedicated. Dr. Rossall is VERY effective. Ms. Crowell is doing a excellent job with my son. I have also worked with Ms. Skinner, Ms. Echezabal, Heidi and Vicky in the office- all of these employees have been wonderful to me. The school nurse and Ms. Contreras- also great. I really haven't had a bad experience at this school. I loved the principal last year. They have a new one this year. I truly respect this teaching staff. GREAT teachers at this school.

The teachers here are amazing. I have 3 kids that attend or have attended this school and unlike the unfortunate terrible Admin staflf (ahem...principal and nurse) every teacher has been truly wonderful...caring, understanding, approachable & have provided material which makes learning a pleasurable experience.

This is my two kids first year here. So far, so good (great). They come home and say they "LOVE SCHOOL AND THEIR TEACHERS"! Nothing can be better then that.

I love the teacher. Heidi is the rudest lady I have ever met. She has yelled at myself and several parents in front of groups of people. She is very compulsive. I am worried how the rest of the school year is going to go which this is the second week of school. All I was trying to do was contact Teacher AGAIN About bullying!! I am concerned and worried how she acts when parents aren't around if she acts like this while parents are around. Keep your eye out for her. She doesn't take "vistors" passes seriously. If your wearing one on campus she will still yell at you and tell you to get out. Scary right!

Part 2: She wont even look at you in the eye and talk to you respectfully. I had a visitors pass on and I already spoke with another staff about it and for her to yell at me not even knowing why I was there was soooo unprofessional. It makes me worry about how she is with the kids if she talks to adults like that. Another child was scared and freaking out in the office and instead of trying to soothe him to make him feel more comfortable to go to class, she yells at him. This incompetent woman should not be working with children and should consider a job as a drill sergeant. Like I said, this school could have so much potential if they were a little more understanding about parents and there children and if they got rid of that rude, unqualified, insensitive woman (Heidi) in the office..

Part 1: My son started TK this year and the teachers are great. This school could have so much potential if it just gets its act together with staff. The ratio is absolutely ridiculous and Heidi in the office should not be aloud to work at schools. 30 to 1 is absurd. My main problem though is that parents are unable to walk their child to class when they are only in TK and kindergarten. It is their first year and they are overwhelmed and scared as it is. Heidi at the front desk is completely rude and very unprofessional. She yelled at me and several other parents in front of the children. So many parents talk about her in the parking lot everyday so I know it is not that she just had one bad day. I was told I was able to walk my child to class because he was so upset. I started to walk him to class (after i signed in and put on my visitors pass) and Heidi was passing by and in front of the kids and about 30 other people she yells at me like a child and my son had finally calmed down by then and after seeing this woman yell at his mother he starts to freak out again and then doesn't want to go to class again.

vicki & heidi in the office are the rudest unhappy ladies that work at Ana Verde elementary. It sad because the school is great & the teachers are awesome.

My son attends this school and I have to say that I was impressed this past year with his teacher (Mrs. Herrera). She got to know my son and understood what his needs were. My son was diagnosed with ADHD in 2008 and this is the first teacher who really worked with him so that he could excel. Thank you

This school needs a lot of improvement. Although it is a distinguished school there is many disciplinary issues with the children and communication issues with the office staff.

Anaverde Hills Elementary was recognized as a California Distinguished School as of March 2010.We have excellent teachers. The PTA is great. We are a small school of close to 300 students grades K-6th. I have 5 children, 3 of which attend Anaverde Hills Elementary since fall of 2007. Our teachers are dedicated to our children's education.

We've moved, in large part, to get our son out of this school. Very disorganized, we're tired of finding out about meetings etc the night before. Our son never had homework even though school and state standards dictate a set amount, and the homework he did have was so basic it was a joke. I worry that with him going to a different school, he's going to be very far behind other kids after attending this school for two years. I honestly feel that our son has learned very little in his tenure at Anaverde and I'm glad he won't be attending any longer.

The month-long holiday at Christmas does seem excessively long; however, that is the policy of the Westside Union school district, not the individual schools On the other hand, people should also be aware that the district's summer break is three weeks shorter than those of the other districts. Westside's school year always begins in the middle of August. Which I hate.

I appreciate this school but think the Christmas and other holidays are way too long. Kids do not need a month off. Great teachers-Grandparent

I felt similar to these other parents tht have posted their comments. I think the parent involvement with the school has a lot to do wtih you child's outcome and experience. It's my two children's first year and my 9 yr old has adapted very well, my 6 year old is one that i had some issues with but I am taking it upon myself to volunteer, to get involve to help the school with what I can. Involvement of the parents is #1 in being able to get your child where they need be, unless you can afford private school.....well I think in the long run my children will be successful with what they will accomplish at this school.

I took my Daughter out of this school for many reasons. There are way too many students in one classroom. The Teachers can not control the children. Too many bullies in this school.

My children have been attending this school for 2 years now and this school is completely off track. The seven grade class is a mess. The students have no respect for authority. The principal and teachers need to start taking some responsibility and make some changes.

This is my son's second year at Anaverde Hills and I hate it. This school is very unorganized and I feel the teachers are still unsure about what their responsibilities are. My son is always beeing bullied and nothing is done about it.

This is our children's second year at Anaverde Hills. I think for a new school, things are going well. As time goes by and parents and teachers continue to work together, things will and can get better. I believe that children should be allowed to be children and any way to make school fun is positive. My children really like this school. They only complain about not having their school in their own neighborhood. My husband and I are really involved in their education.

faculty not prepare to provide the students with State requirements. The school does not provide students with physical activities. Friday's is fun Friday per school teachers students can't continue to learn at the end of the week.
