I graduated from Lake Los Angeles in 2007; I have to say it was a great school. I went to Lake Los Angeles from K though 8th. I have not had such a connection with any other teacher then I had with the ones I had at LLA. My school experience there was the best the teacher always went the extra mile to help any students. I have many good memories from here and teacher I will never forget. I know there are many new teachers now but I know there are still a couple teachers that are still there from when I went there and I can bet you they are keeping the school the same but making it much better.
This is the best school in this area in my opinion. I had to get an intra-district transfer for three of my children to attend, but it is well worth the small hassle to get them into a decent school. The office staff are great, the teachers and admin are as well. My son is beginning 1st grade there this year and is excited to go back. He hated his old school so much he had behavior issues (self-wetting) because his TEACHER intimidated and harassed him so much. We moved him to Lake LA school and the problems resolved, he over-achieved in Kindergarten and is eager for the new year in first grade! I stated Average because it is an average school. For this area however, it is an EXCELLENT school.
School has really turned around since they got the new principal. Problems are handled and my kids love school.
the behavior problems within the eighth graders has greatly decreased. there has been less drama and no fights at all this year
Too much 'bullying' by older students and when brought to the attention of staff it has not gotten addressed with any concern to the severity of this problem. School violence should not be tolerated at all. When a student is comfortable or brave enough to come forward and address safety issues it would only seem fair to properly address the issues at hand. Maybe the next time the students would be less likely to turn away and more likely to try to resolve issues without the aid of staff and that could have tragic results.
