The school has its issues, I rate it two stars, because of the overcrowded capacity, teachers are dealing with up to 32 students per class, many of which are unruly, and their hands are tied in ways to deal with them. The office staff has not changed, they are still unprofessional, which is sad, because they are the first impression parents get of the school. I have heard of bullying going on, and no effort is being made to address it., a bunch of responsibility shifting. My son is still there, only because it is close to my house, that has been the only benefit of Cottonwood
I Have my daugther in first grade and I love the School ...Thachers and Principal too..I believe is a great school.
I have had my kids in this school for 3 years and finally pulled them out. The office is rude and the teachers seem so stressed out. The school is so over crowded that lunch time is rushed through and discipline problems are high. A lot of changes need to take place before I ever put my kids back.
Attention parents, if you have read some bad comments about Cottonwood, the only thing that is true is the bad principal. The teachers are wonderful and they try to put this school in a better place. The good news is that we got a new principal, Mrs.Sour. She is very sweet. She is always working hard and trying to make this school a better place. As she always says, TOGETHER WE CAN!
This is the worst school my son has ever attended! We have lived in three states and attended four different school districts and I have to say that Cottonwood is horrible. I would never send my child back to this school.
Wonderful teachers and great atmosphere!
i am happy overall with my daughers education here. she has great scores on her tests and she is reading and writing at her level and sometimes above compared to east side school districts this school has a better academic scores, if the parents work with their children too then the important thing is that your child gets a good education. and my daughter is doing well so far. i will continue to do my part and hope
Mrs. Peck that's the evil pricipal who screams at these defenseless children suspends kids for the smallest infraction and you wouldn't believe what she attempt to do to some parents. I hope her boss reds this. Keep your children OUT of this school at any cost! I know what I'm talking about!
I am very dissapointed with cottonwood. Although my son like his teacher, I really have nothing else positive to say about the school. The office staff has been very rude and short with me and my wife evertime we have had to deal with them. Pick up and drop off is honestly a joke, there is only one way in and one way out of the parking lot. Takes up to 20 minutes sometimes to pick up my child. If you are thinking about your child going here, look around, Quartz Hill elementary is right down the street, and is a much better school.
My Grandson has gone to Cottonwood since Kindergarten (he's in 4th this year) and if it weren't for his good circle of friends, I would have really tried hard to get him transferred to a private school. I hear friends talking about activities at their children's school, and realize how little Cottonwood does for the kids. Not much recogntion for good citizenship or academics. Principal seems very detatched and seems to only speak when she scolding the kids. She gives a lot of negative feedback. I hope things improve next year!
