This school was the best school I have ever attended. It has given me self confidence and amazing insight into academics. The teachers are very kind, understanding and energetic about their subjects, making personal relationships with each student a must. When I started I was very unorganized. The teachers worked with me to organize my binders and give me tips to help me. Academically, I struggled with writing. With constant practice combined with the teacher's feedback, my writing improved. Other subjects such as math, science and spanish are steller. Overall, I feel very prepared for the long road ahead, thanks to teachers and the fantastic friendships I made while attending this school.

Great school. I have never been in a better school and i have been in 6 before. Hands on learning(which makes learning fun and easy) and the teachers and students are a family. I love the school and everything about it. My education is great yet they teach it in an easy way. They really teach you to be a individual, strong girl! amazing

The Girls Middle School is a fabulous school that has given my daughter amazing things - academic and personal confidence, a love of writing, an appreciation for math, great teachers, mentors and friends. I can't believe how she has grown and the positive impact the GMS experiences entrepreneurial, sports, computer science, group projects, trips and more have had on her. Deb Hof is a fabulous head of school that seems to make a major improvement every time I turn around. The teachers are passionate, talented and dedicated. We both wish she didn t have to graduate this year, but our comfort is that she is truly prepared for high school. I can t recommend this school more highly. I am so thankful that my daughter has had the opportunity to attend GMS and that I have been able to be a part of the fabulous GMS community.

Fabulous school, best thing that could have ever happened for our Very Bright & Very Active daughter. High Academic Standards, very personal attention, strong socialization/emotional skills work, small school setting. High energy, very experienced & Professional Teachers are the Best! Great Staff, too. Major field trip and travel opportunities for opening the world to girls, engineering and entreprenurial programs, too. Strong parent involvement encouraged. Small School athletic league, getting better every year. If your daughter is Bright and maybe Quirky, too, this is the place for her. Highly recommend.

Dynamic new head, Deb Hof, will add polish to a great program. The faculty are first-rate. GMS's first graduating class (2001) are off to college in fall 2005. The GMS experience prepares girls intellectually and personally to excel in high school and on to college. The majority of graduates test into geometry in 9th grade. Those who choose to continue with Spanish test into Spanish II. For many girls the great strength of the school is small size -- can be a weakness for team athletes as the caliber of competition in team sports is not as great.

I am a student at GMS, so I cansay that it has changed my whole life. At GMS, I have become so much kinder and more receptive. It's academics are all I could ask for and more, and the teachers are like friends who can motivate you to work. Perfect for quirky kids, but normal ones will thrive as well.

The Girls' Middle School is going strong! The majority of this year's graduates placed into HS geometry; almost all the girls placed into Spanish II. My daughter (class of '03) is excelling at an academically-demanding private school. The Pioneer Class ('01) all are going to colleges and many were accepted at their first-choice colleges. We have a new head, Deb Hof from Castilleja. (Margaret Scott, the previous head, retired to the North Bay, at the urging of her fiance.)

Our daughter had attended this school for 1 year and it was a very dissapointing expereince. At $15K a year one would expect better teachers, more personolized attention to the academic performance and desire to produce result. However, as we found, the school program was more concentrated on fun activities than academics. As a result a year later our daughter barely passed the the year-end test. On top of that we were bombarded by constant solicitations for sizable donations, which we found to be very disturbing. For 2 years now our daughter attending different MV private school - St. Stephen Lutheran School and what a difference! At 1/3 of the cost it offers considerably better educational program, teacher/student ratio, well balanced extracurricular activities and a family like setting. We can not recommend Girls Middle School to anyone.

Great school for girls, grades 6-8. Unique technology focus without sacrificing other curriculum (engineering taought in 7th grade), entrepreneurial program and experience, and enthusiastic faculty. Small classes and focus specifically on girls means every student gets lots of attention. Only drawback is that it is a relatively new school (5 yrs. old) and facilities are not that great.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
