Chadwick School is a 8:1 students to teacher ratio. In every class, we always talk and discuss about things. I was a very shy student that didn't talk at all, but the teachers here at Chadwick made me express my feelings and communicate more. Because of this, my grade went from C's and B's to all perfect A's. I encourage everyone to go to this amazing school with many opportunities to tryout new activities.
Chadwick's teacher quality varies greatly. Some are really good and some are not good. If your child is going to 5th grade, definitely try to get Samantha Inglis as the teacher. She was very good. Management and administration is weak as they are so focused on the expansion of Chadwick's International School in South Korea instead of Chadwick at home here in California. Sometimes we think that by well-rounded students, Chadwick really aims for above average students who are not very good in anything.
I graduated over 50 years ago, so it's very difficult to compare. There were lots of children of film stars and directors, which was fun. There certainly was a bit of bullying in those days, but not too much. I certainly remember some very fine teachers there, especially in English, and my beloved French teacher Pierre Fatio. Perhaps the weakest point was the management. One day Commander Chadwick saw me carrying the George Orwell book, "Animal Farm." He commented, "Isn't that for kids? I am sure there have been enormous improvements since then.
Chadwick rocks! The teachers are so nice and the campus is beautiful. If you want to join a good private school then join Chadwick! :D
The summer program was excellent and well co-ordinated. Most of the classes were full. Teachers and counsellors were on site all the time to assist parents and students. At the end of it, the students enjoyed all their programs and the school. Unfortunately, the school has a long list of wait-list and getting into the school is extremely difficult so we had to go for the summer program. The summer program was worth it as well.
The school has a rich culture and knows their mission very well. However, vacancies are limited and there is a huge waiting list for enrollment. They are well known for their well rounded education, campus is fantastic with all the facilities. The staffs all know the school is great and strives to live up to their reputation. Need to check on the enrollment dates carefully and submit on time.
Chadwick students are hardworking, well behaved and kind. A few, however , need to be occasionally reminded that a good education is not just acquired at ivy league schools but also from life experiences, wisdom, multi - cultural family values and reason. ( And faith in some cases.) Chadwick's stronget point is its rich academic and extracurricular programs offered on campus. There are limitless positive opportunities for gifted students to be challenged in an strongly integrated curriculum. Thier weakest point is a lack of team coordination of departmental goals and objectives in one or two high school disciplines. Professionals work best in strong teams, especially in multi - level content areas. Overall, Chadwick is a spectacular school and the students are not only outstanding but diverse!
Excellent school. Caring teachers and well-rounded education. Emphasis on core values. Children are confident and very capable.
I agree with what others say regarding the academics, campus, etc. The teachers are a caring group, but the quality really varies a lot. Most are 'good or better' on the rating scale, but some simply don't relate to the kids (or parents) especially the math. Science has some really exceptional teachers though. The biggest issue is the extreme liberal bias in the attitude and curriculum taught. With the emphasis on 'critical thinking', also known as 'opinion', they really force feed the students whatever viewpoint the teacher holds. Revisionist history textbooks and literature that is extreme and hardly appropriate for high school students pushes their political view, morals, and 'correctness' onto the students at a critical time in their development. Most parents have no idea about what is in the books assigned, but I urge parents to take the time and let the school know their opinion.
Beautiful campus but weak in math and science. K-5 uses Everyday Math and now the school has adopted College Preparatory Math. Integrated Science in 8th and 9th with plans for 7-10th next year. Even the science teachers are telling parents with kids with an interest in a STEM field to go elsewhere.
Great school, really like the atmosphere. Everyone's friendly and awesome. I know that when I leave, I will miss it everyday
Chadwick is a great school and I love going there! There are lots of fun activities and bullies are not allowed so there are no bullies. There are wonderful field trips and we have I field trip every time we study something different. At third grade and up, you get to go on a sleepaway field trip.
Chadwick was the best school I've ever gone to, which says something because I've attended six schools. Chadwick has a slight liberal bias, but your student will learn to love the environment and respect the world around you. I formed strong political views at age 12 just because of Chadwick. I am still using the facts I learned attending Chadwick Middle School in high school, especially what I learned in the science and english programs. I remember a main project in seventh grade science was to monitor and take care of a plot of land in the Chadwick canyon. We used temperature probes, pressure monitors, and many other devices the average 7th grader would never had laid hands on. The tuition is a big high, at almost $20,000 per year, but there is a large percentage of students on financial aid, and people don't judge one another based on money.
Chadwick is unparalleled in academics. I'm an alum, and this time was the hardest I've ever worked. As a result, everything since then has been easy, even my ivy league grad school. I graduated from Chadwick over 10 years ago, and I've heard that it's become even more intense. If academics is right up your alley, then this is the place for you. If not, go elsewhere.
Chadwick is the best school ever not only does it improve your childs grade but it involves them in being confident and artistic. No uniforms either!
Fantastic extracurricular activities: outdoor programs, no-cut sports teams. Great education, but many kids are burned out by the time they graduate due to the pressure put on students in high school
This school had a great variety of programs, and all the staff was exceptional, with a large % having PhD degrees. The school is beautiful, and commited to sending all kids to college.
This school has it all. Believe me, if you want a high quality school with great academics and extracurricular activities, then enroll your child here.
So many aspects of a Chadwick education are incomparable. From the beautiful rustic setting and small class sizes to the amazing program offerings and a staff incredibly dedicated to supporting the success of each and every individual student, you would be hard pressed to find a more ideal school anywhere. The mission statement is not just empty words that look good on brochures. It is abided by and dearly held by the staff, and the values it espouses are nurtured in students from the most fundamental level. Kids are offered a broad and very real view of the world. Aware of their great privileges, students are also steeped in understanding that circumstances can be very different around the corner and around the world--They learn to understand and to act on their responsibilities as citizens of their communities and the world. Beyond the academics--which are excellent--Chadwick builds whole, well-rounded human
