Field Elementary is a really great school. Ms Apodaca and her leadership team work hard at ensuring that the students have a balanced education. The teachers and staff care for the students. My son highly respects his teacher and loves coming to school.
We have a first grader in Field's Mandarin-immersion program and our preschooler will start kindergarten next fall. We love Field. The principal is very hands-on and approachable and it's a very nice, caring community to be a part of it. We don't speak Mandarin at home, but it's amazing what my child has been able to learn. We hosted some Chinese students from Beijing last week; they didn't speak much English, so my son spoke to them in Mandarin the entire time. We have been very impressed with both Field and the Mandarin program.
Our daughter started at Field 2 years ago in the Mandarin Dual Language Immersion Program. We've been very please with her progress in Chinese and with all the effort to also ensure that she has a positive and challenging experience in English during these foundational reading and writing years. We've had good experience with the teachers, the PTA, the community of students and parents, and also the principal.
We initially enrolled our two kids in private school and were ready to spend the money when we heard of the opportunity for them to learn Mandarin. We took the chance with public school and enrolled them in the Mandarin Dual Language Immersion Program and couldn't be happier and it's free (LOL!). The standard curriculum is conducted 90% in mandarin and 10% in english. The children are diverse, well behaved and the parents are very involved and resourceful. Although we do not speak Mandarin, my kids are thriving with comprehension, reading and writing the complicated characters. They are on their way to becoming biliterate. The children in kindergarten are conversing with each other in mandarin within the first 3 months. It's unbelievable and they are engaged and confident. Even the afterschool program has a mandarin speaking teacher to help with homework. Field ES is a nice and safe campus. We are really happy with Field, the leadership, teachers and staff.
My daughter is thriving at Field Elementary School! Principal Apodaca is a strong leader who puts her students first. The parent community at Field is engaged and eager to participate in their children's learning experiences. The teachers are devoted -- it shows in their students' progress. As a working parent, I like the variety of after-school options that are offered at Field. I appreciate the cultural diversity in the school and how it is celebrated year-round -- Field Elementary is a wonderful environment for my child.
I am absolutely delighted with Field Elem. School. When my child begun attending the school, there were many teachers being changed, but Ms. Apodaca took care of the parent's needs and helped the children make the transitions. Currently, my two children are extremely happy at Field and I am thrilled with the academic progress that they are making. Each year they continue to learn new and challenging information. Each year I am thankful that my children attend a school that has such an excellent staff . . .who knows us (students and parents) by name.
My son is in kindergarten in the Mandarin Dual Language Immersion Program which just relocate to to Field Elementary Fall 2011 from Burbank Elementary. I think this is the only 90/10 Mandarin program in the LA area. The other two programs @ Broadway & City Terrace are only 50/50. We feel very fortunate to have this program available for our kids. The Mandarin teachers are amazing. The Principal and the parents are very involved. The children are kind and polite to each other. I couldn't have been happier with our program choice and school selection.
As a community volunteer, I read to a combination 5th and 6th grade class at Field Elementary School in Pasadena once a week. While it may not be accurate to judge a school by one class, this one class is quite amazing: The students are attentive and well-mannered to the nth degree. It restores one's faith in public education.
I love thefact that they offer a variety of programs for the children for what ever learning situation problem arises. As a mom that makes me feel very good to know.
Parent involvement at Field is really growing and we're seeing more families from the neighborhood coming back to the school. It's a marked change in the past two years - a trend that will continue. We love sending our child to our neighborhood school. It builds community and friendships.
Field is focused on providing the best education they can give. They have wonderful teachers, a fantasic Principal, and wonderful programs for the students to better themselves. My oldest daughter started at Field an average student, she is now in GATE & HONORS; and brags about being a Mentor to the younger generation. All this is thanks to the great teachers of Field Elementary for teaching her to reach for the stars and never give up. All dreams are possible. Thank you.
Our first experience and a few thereafter at this school was not pleasant, far too many changes and disorganized situations for parents, students and staff to have to deal with. With in the last 2yrs this school has made a vast improvement in both it's routine function and after school programs. I am now PROUD to say my Children attend E.Field Elementary! Thank you to the hard work and dedication to all staff and parent volunteers for making this school our best yet!
This is our first year at Field and we are very happy. The principal is wonderful and she seems to know every child by name. Our son has made new friends and he greets me every day after school with a smile. The whole staff is very dedicated and professional. The school is growing and we believe it will soon ascend as one of Pasadena's top public schools.
My child began attending this school this year and I am impressed. The school is clean, safe, organized, and a true community. My daughter loves it and so do I. There are plenty of opportunities for parent invement and wonderful commuinty growing at this school. It is clear that the leadership and staff have a vision.
This school is a gem. It's in a great location and students are well-behaved and respectful. The principal is extremely competent and conscientious, and so is the teaching staff. The school campus is clean and well-managed. Parent involvement is growing and scores are going up. I would recommend this school to anyone looking for an alternative to private school. Best of all, our child is happy to go to school each morning !
After sending my child to Field for six years, I have been extremely happy with this school. The students are very well-behaved, and those that are not are dealt with immediately whether their parents like it or not...My child was always safe! Academically, the teachers were fabulous. Their caring inspired my daughter to always achieve her best. She was given challenging work and not bogged down with ridiculous assignments. She learned to play the violin, use a computer, sing, dance, draw, and most importantly to me, to read and write well. Thank you Field teachers for getting my daughter ready for middle school! A year later, I can look back and be thankful that I did not waste my money on private school (I was going to). My daughter still remains one of the top performing students in the district!
This school has been an extreme disappointment. Most of the children in this school are problematic and disrespectful. I just recently enrolled my two children and my son already got suspended. My son has never gotten into any problems in school until now that he has to defend himself from kids who just want to fight all the time. It's ridiculous! Some teachers don't even bother to check the homework. I'm in the process of finding another school for my children to attend. Sorry, but I do not recommend this school to anyone.
