Willard is a fantiastic elementary program for the students in Pasadena. Dr. Onoye take the time to know her students and chooses her teacher well. That combination, along with a fabulous GATE and IB Program, instrumental and vocal music program and stellar core academics makes this an amazing school. It is one of the only schools in the district I would recommend for this grade range. My daughter graduated fromt he 5th grade last year with a president's letter and top honors.

Willard is a wonderful school they have just been accepted into the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program, making this kindergarten through fifth-grade campus only the second elementary school in California to receive the distinction. The I.B. program encourages schools to teach their students how to become global citizens by infusing everyday lesson plans with science, social studies, economics and other core concepts. Each grade level at Willard has been given a different continent as part of the program's effort to expose students to the world. First-graders, for example, who are studying about Australia, heard directly from members of the Australian consulate's office. And second-graders at the school recently learned about the economic concept of supply and demand by helping to raise money through the Red Cross for Tsunami victims. Additionally, the school incorporates foreign language study, providing students with weekly Spanish lessons.

This school provides a challenging yet nurturing environment for all students. The IB program provides opportunities that most other schools do not have, such as a Foreign Language Program, Technology Lab with advanced equipment, and even an electives program.

My experience with this school has been extremely dissapointing. My child is in kindergarten, but will most likely finish the school year in a private school. I am a public school teacher. I have found the current principal to be abrupt. She can be supportive at times, but it seems to cause her great pain to do so. I feel that she is over-supportive of her staff. I feel that much of what I was told as a prospective parent was 'hype.'

My two boys attend Willard Elementary School. I am more than pleased with the staff and the education that my children are receiving. I am especially thankful for the LEARNS afterschool program.
