I am a current parent of St. Philip the Apostle School. We love the school and dedicated teachers. Our children graduate well-prepared for high school and continue on to great colleges and universities. In addition to the strong academics and all the co-curricular opportunities, we really value the Catholic values St. Philip instills in our children. It is very dear to see the students attend weekly mass with their "school families" comprised of K-8 students, with the older students leading the younger ones. I also love the sense of community with all the parent volunteers who give so much to the school. We are very fortunate to have such a supportive Parish community. When our children all graduate, we will continue to give back with gratitude!

All three of my children are St. Philip graduates. My two oldest are now working professionals and my youngest is in college. This school is a wonderful memory for them and for me. They were well prepared for high school. They were offered so many opportunities to excel and shine through academics and through all of the many co-curricular offerings. We love St. Philips!
I am a parent at St. Philip the Apostle school. My children and I LOVE the school. It has great academics. There is a computer lab, a library, a full PE program, Spanish, and in the junior high smaller math classes. The after school program is excellent. The school has many athletic teams and every child gets to play. The coaches are great. There is also Speech and Debate, Spanish Club, Math Club, and Drama. My family has been very happy and we know our children are being well prepared for high school!

I am submitting my own review and also addressing the negative review left in Oct by a disgruntled parent from another school. As an athletic director myself (Buzz Cook, Holy Family), I have had the opportunity to work with the AD from St Philip for several years. I would simply state that I have never seen him degrade a student in any manner...Does he coach to win? Yes. Does he expect his kids to play hard and leave it on the court/field? Yes...and they do. Have I seen him frustrated with poor officiating and perhaps express some angst with another coach? Of course. We all get caught up in the emotions of the game from time to time. St Philip is a fantastic school...I think any child is lucky to be there. As for the AD and the athletic department, they provide all of the kids on that campus with a chance to play numerous sports (individual & team), and with a no cut policy, this requires a tremendous amount of effort and dedication from the AD and parent coaches. Go Falcons!
I'm strictly reviewing the Athletic Director- I am a parent at another Catholic school that plays against St.Philips- What a poor representations for your school- this man is rude to both opposing parents and players. He speaks to children in the most condescending tone and degrading manor. After having attended serveral CYO coaching classes it's clear he thinks he's above the policy set forth by the organization. I would be embarrassed to be a parent at this school and would no way want my children to be exposed to this disgusting display of poor sportsmanship .
Overly priced for the pathetic education structure. I transferred to a public school in La Canada after attending St. Phillips and went from being an A student to a D student. This is because the curriculum at St Phillips is more geared towards religion rather than math, history, science, literature, and other basic fundamentals. If you want your child to become a priest or nun, this school is a great option. If you want your child to excel in school and go on to be a doctor, lawyer, or waitress- your money would be better spent at PTA fundraisers for the Pasadena public schools.
This school showed me one thing, and this one thing only: the world is a cruel place, and sometimes cruelty is disguised in the form of a catholic k-8 school. Don't come here, and spare your child years of misery.
if i could go and change one thing about my childhood, it would be this school.
It's students enjoy learning, the parents are very much involved in school activities, teachers there love to teach, it has a diverse offering of extracurricular activities, day care is amazing. It really does personify the saying that 'it takes a village'. Parents and faculty work together to help our kids learn and grow. The school's Cub Scout and Boy Scout troops are GREAT.

Two of our four children have graduated from St. Philip, with our third child starting first grade in the fall, and our fourth child on the way. We have been associated with this school for ten years now, and we have seen a lot of positive changes. The campus has been totally revamped with brand new buildings, the current principal is very good, the teachers are very supportive, the sports programs are great, the campus is very safe, and parental involvement is outstanding. Our oldest child graduated as a valedictorian and will be a sophmore at Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy in the fall where she has continued to do really well. Our second oldest child also did great and will be a freshman at St. Franics in the fall. Both of our two oldest children were well prepared for their next step to a private high. Best kept secret in Pasadena.
