This school is one of the best schools ever the teachers are awesome and interactive they actually help students when the need help. Plus the disiplinary staff does their best but there are so many kids it is hard to control the students and i am proud to a PRHS Bearcats
I have a child at PRHS. The school is scary and out of control. As I walked through the campus I noticed MANY safety concerns to which explained the fact that they have so many discipline issues. The teachers are ok but for the most part you have to threaten a school board meeting to have them respond to a voice mail or email regarding your child. The administration is willing to return calls and voicemails but the lack of doing their job is a big concern. They seem to play all sides of the fence. (you know what I'm talking about; telling the student what they want to hear, telling the parents what they want to hear and if confronted act oblivious) They would rather passs the problem or issue on to the next person. The school is overcrowded and the the teachers are stretched thin.
I agree with the parents, prhs is lacking in many areas at the school. Communication is a big problem. It is sad to think that when your daughter comes in the door or son, they can inform you of the 'events' calendar with the following : gang activity, drug deals, alcholic beverages being mixed during lunch, theft, vandalism, solicitation, weapons and hate crimes are taking place daily. The class sizes are too large and parent involvement is difficult at times. I do see many parents are frustrated ; want ing to help but without the support of the teachers or admin they are lost. The students who acheive greatly at prhs has done so by their own abilities not by the support of the staff. To make matters worse the school laid off several teachers and counselors last week; unfortunatlely it was the good ones who are ask to leave.Shame on prhs.
Having my child attend a Clovis California school in a blue ribbon school and then attend Paso is so different. Being smaller was expected and not being able to afford the offerings of Clovis was accepted. But given the difference I'll take Clovis any day. The attitude is so different, here if you can't cut it.. the attitude is lax.. just go to library... there is no care about the student. They're there for the pay check and the care they may have once had is long gone. Where are all the teams pictures.. Just a general lack of care or of any detectible motivation for the student to acheive more.. where are the pictures of the colleges.. Yes I plan to be very visable at this school.I intend to get the fire going and is you don't move... igniting the students to learn.. I'll be asking why.
I feel that this school is great! I am one of the students that attends PRHS. I feel that the teachers are excellent, they are very orginized and nice. They don't make the class that you are taking boring, it is always fun. Especially the American Sing Language class, the teacher is great! She is always doing something fun and keeps all of her students entertained. The teachers are always encouraging the students to do their best. The sport teams are very good, and the coachs are very nice, but they still push you enough so you will be a very good team. They encourage the team to be kind to one another and to always do there best. There is very little violence there and the students are always friendly! The school is clean, not alot of trash around. Overall I feel that this school is awesome!
