Although the high school is very small, the school is great. All studets can have one on ones with the teachers and the sciene, math, and history departments are great!
I think that pescadero high school is the best school I ever been to
As a student that graduated from Pescadero High School within the the last five years I would say that it is only good for academic purposes. The math department is horrendous, but english, science, and history are excellent. The school provides no way to become normally socialized. It is not a good school to meet people at and can be very boring. College was so much better than high school simply because there were more people to meet and more classes to take. Pescadero High School would benefit from returning the shop class and actually having electives. It is better to move than to send your student to Pescadero High School. It had the same feel as the local honor camps.
Although this school is a small school, each student gets as much education as they need. If a student ever feels like they are not being given enough of a challenge then it is not difficult to request for a transfer into a harder class or ask for an extension to make the class more difficult. The teachers are highly educated and know their subjects and how to help their students understand. The parents in the community donate time to make the learning environment of the students better quality. In all the sports programs the students are able to learn how to do their best and work together with their teammates and everyone is given the opportunity to play in a sport.
Pescadero HS is a wonderful, very small school with about 100 students. Its small size and excellent staff and leadership provide a very caring and individualized environment for all students. You can't get lost and you will not be ignored. But its small size also provides a challenge, since often advanced course and electives can't be offered. On line courses help, but they lack the class discussion and live stimulation. The small size provides a unique opportunity for everyone to participate in sports.
As a former student, this school slowed my education and career down in so many different ways. When I graduated in 1996, this school had at least a hundred students, but today it has less than 70! I was not educated well, and am learning this now at age 25 at Simpson College, that should have been learned at age 16! There were not many advantages to attending this High School for 5 years.
