On my fourth year at VHS, I can say with certainty that this school is AMAZING Nowhere else will you find such great opportunities for your student, as well as true diversity and great academics. This school prepared me for a bright future. Thank you VHS :) Go tigers!
Valencia HS provides a lot of diversity, rigorous academics, and helpful teachers. I had a great experience in this school and still am. The sports I hear are great, the involvement is hands on, and the learning is fantastic. The people are really nice here and some teachers really care about the students future. You can get great advice from some of the counselors( AVID COUNSELOR was the best) and helpful tips for your future. The surroundings in the school are great, I really love that trees are around you and the campus is different. It has a little twist to your typical school campuses. The lunch food is not that great and I believe not healthy, but some teachers decide to bring food to school to sell to kids. For example: $1 noodle cup soups, chips, cookies, junk food, soda, and water. There are vending machines that sell junk food, Snapple, Gatorade, water, ice cream, and soda. Also the band room has an afterschool snack place that sells a ton of food, junk food, ice cream, beverages, and a lot more ALL FOR $1. It is the average teenagers dream, although I don't know if they will have the band afterschool snack bar this upcoming year 2014-2015. Pack own food to stay healthy.
The staff and students are wonderful, my daughter had a great experience. The diversity of the campus makes this school a real-world experience. I recommend it all the time. In my four years as a parent of a student here, it surprises me that anyone had a bad experience. The staff are extremely devoted-- I have heard of counselors helping their students financially - I recall a fundraiser that helped a family recently (mother had cancer), I think they raised $1300 from just the staff and a few kids. Valencia is an incredibly underrated school. It is recognized nationally as one of the best in the country (Newsweek magazine).
I had a horrible experience at this school. I transferred into this school over spring break last year, even though I really wanted to go to El Dorado. It has a very high hispanic population which was not a problem but due to the fact I'm very fair and have blonde hair, I stood out like a sore thumb. After only two weeks of being there, people were spreading horrible rumors about me. And I mean HORRIBLE. The teachers I had, except for one, were very rude and inconsiderate. And the counselor I had was even worse. She believed that she knew everything and wouldn't listen to anything I had to say, which ended up really screwing me over. In the end, I only had 4 classes as a freshman and absolutely refused to put me into any other electives so that I wouldn't fall behind in credits (which she could've done without a problem.) All in all, rude students and faculty members destroyed the high hopes that I had for Valencia. Avoid this school at all costs.
I completely hated his school the people here are hostile and the school has just an overall bad envirement.
My school is great, but only if you're enrolled in the IB or Valencia Tech programs.
BEST SCHOOL in the district. I feel safe, and the teachers and staff really care about you. Attend this school.
Accademics really emphasised here. Great athletic department as well. My soon plays basketball and baseball and is making some good friends, hopefully for life.

My daughter is graduating in the class of 2009 after 4 tough years in the VHS IB program. Was the rigorous academics and stress worth it for a teenager who devoted practically all her time towards academics, sports, friendships, and community service. I think the answer is yes! The diversity of VHS will never be matched by most high schools in all of Orange County. This is because VHS has programs to train the IVY league high achiever to the disadvantaged students who have both have the passion and commitment to succeed. VHS has created the opportunities for any student who has the maturity, the drive, and the intelligence to strive to be the best they can be. Success can be found through the many personal stories at VHS where the diversity of its student population and communities will always be what makes VHS a special learning institution.
VHS is definitely a diamond in the rough, and I could not be happier that my children are lucky enough to attend such a gem of a school. My children are not in the VHS district and knew practically NOBODY when they began their high school experience. The staff from the teachers to the aides and everyone in between is beyond excellent. In my opinion, every student is embraced (from the at risk student to the high achiever) and given the tools necessary for success. Students need to do their part, but teachers and counselors will light the path for them and they genuinely and sincerely wish success for each student. Unlike most large schools in our district, the staff makes honest attempts to form connections and relationships with their students. I can not rave enough about this school. Go Tigers!
Our daughter attended vhs 4 yrs. She took several ap classes there and enjoyed learning. There are many awesome teachers and staff @ vhs who really do care for your students!
I am a freshman and came to this school unlike anybody else from my middle school. I am a very outgoing person, but when i came to Valencia I didn't fit in. I was told that i would make friends anywhere i was, but in this case, I wasn't pleased. Great IB and AP courses, but overall I wasn't happy.
Valencia is an awesome! The teachers really care about the students academics and do very thing in their power to see us do well at the next level!
This school is outstanding! Excellent academics, activities, and opportunities for growth.
I was forced to go to Valencia and I didn't come from Kramer so I'm not enjoying it completely however I still think the school great and the teachers are great and the students are great and the golf team is great.
Valencia high school is a phenomenal school. As a student in the IB program I feel that Valencia offers top-notch education options as well as a variety of sports, clubs, extra-curricular activities, etc. Overall, I am extremely pleased with the personal connection administrators have with students in helping us prepare for college.
Valencia has an excellent reputation. They offer students a wide variety of programs geared towards academics, sports, and music. Students are given the opportunity to expand their education, while preparing for the next step into college.
My son graduated from this school in 2004. I believe that VHS offers high quality programs and teachers, what prevents this school from being superb is some of the students. The kids that are there to learn and want to succeed will do well at VHS. It's real obvious which students have parents that are involved in their lives and education -- they are the success stories. If more parents would take responsibility for their role in raising respectful, productive citizens, this school would be academically recognized every year.
I have been a teacher at Valencia High School for twenty years. My wife and I lived two blocks from the school for almost six years. From talking with neighborhood parents, students, and colleagues, it will be obvious to any interested parent that Valencia H.S. has truly earned its school motto of 'Pride, Tradition, and Excellence.' In the 70 years of its history, Valencia's community involvement, caring staff, and high standards of academic achievement have marked it as an exemplary high school. These qualities were responsible, in part, for V.H.S. being named a 'California Distinguished School.' Less than ten percent of California schools have earned this distinction. When compared with other high schools of similar socio-economic backgrounds, Valenica consistently has scored a '9 or 10' on a scale of ten. The fact that our faculty averages 17 years of teaching at our high school says all you need to know.
