Greats, small town school that serves its students and community well. I would happily send my children here if we still lived in the area.
I actually am a student at markham and i think it is great its fun but I feel like your always learning while you are still having fun so I would say its an all around wonderful experience.
I posted rating for this school last month but it was not posted. The school has a new principal . So I cannot say much about him he is just getting his bearings. After shadowing my child through each class. Most of the teachers are sincere and want their students to succeed. However I have found a few teachers that go too fast and don't slow down and take time to thoroughly go the course material.
This school has seen some incredible positive changes in the last 3 years. The passion and enthusiasm of the principal has been infectious and has breathed new life into Markham. The teachers, parents and students have joined forces to make important changes in the curriculum, safety and school spirit. New clubs and after school activities have been added to encourage all students to get more involved. The staff has spent countless volunteer hours to ensure there is something for every one. I have found parent input to be well received.
My daughter loves this school. The principal is always around and easy to talk to. You can email him and he gets back to you right away. The staff is young and have great ideas. The sports programs are great too.
The principal is fantastic. Under the new administration Markham is turning a new leaf. Great gains were made in last years testing. The school is safe and my child is happy.
Markham has strived to greatly improve and I believe the administration and teaching staff are achieving huge success. Most of the teachers my son has had, do their job for the love of teaching and give the students the tools needed to achieve their very best. They offer many different sport programs and find coaches who care as well. The Principal Mr. Nigel is doing a fantastic job. I have seen so many positive changes. No school is perfect but with the leadership Markham has, they will only continue to make high achiever's of our children with the desire to succeed.
Markham has really made powerful changes over the past couple of years. The new principal Marc Nigel is caring, dedicated, and committed to his students and his staff. The changes he has made with support from his teachers include a strong focus on improving the curricular design. This was proven in the results of last years standardized test scores recently released. Next years scores are expected to improve again without question. Marc Nigel and his staff are all team players and continuously work to improve 'education' for their students.
I don't think they listen to the parents on the childs needs. The new lunch system is very flawed. My child only gets about 10 minutes to eat. On minimum days he only gets about 5 min. The school acts like they always know what's best for the my child, and they don't. I feel at times they ignore my input.
Markahm is working on changing the level of success for its sutdents. Great strides have been made in the many areas and the staff is working diligently on improving many others.
