Excellent School! The principal is outstanding! Teachers are very friendly! Although the office staff always has a negative attitude! They are only friendly to those they are already familiar with. At the beginning of the 2014 school year, I went in the office to ask a question. The office assistant informed me that she could not answer my question because the principal needs to communicate better with the staff. She could have said I m not sure but I will find out, you can call or come back later in the week or something of that matter

This is one of the two high performance elementary schools in Pomona Valley Unified. The teachers here are great. They care about the students and want to see them succeed. The current principal is very approachable and friendly. Always has a smile for the families but seems very no-nonsense at the same time. (As a good principal should be!)

At one point this was an outstanding school. The API for 2012 was at 920, within a year it plummeted to 885. I believe it's due to the new principal. She is too soft. There are some students who are notorious for bullying, sexual harassment etc. and she and the yard staff turn a blind eye. They claim zero tolerance but when it's reported the principal blames the victim instead of the student who is continually causing problems. I believe morale Is down. Too many students allowed to attend from other districts.

We love Ranch Hills Elementary school!!! We moved four years ago to this area looking for good education... best decision ever!!! My son is doing great, we are very proud of him. Thank you very much to the staff, we really appreciate their work, especially when most of the people think, they have to do everything for our kids and don't understand every body needs to collaborate to make the process successful. Thank you Mr. Martinez, and Mrs. B ... LOVE YOU!!!

Ranch Hill's API score is still very high. As a parent, I appreciate that my child is just not a test score in the classroom, but is receiving a well rounded education. I feel the difference is cultural. Many parents work long hours unable to help their child with homework, many children live between two homes weekly, the special education children in the regular classroom take up alot of the teachers time, and class size is ridiculous. Those who don't think Ranch Hills staff and principal are not doing all they can, should home school. (The grass is always greener).

A lot of it socio cultural. There couldn't have been that much of a difference in one year. Ranch Hills is a good school but not great. There is only one great elementary school in the district. Diamond Ranch and Ranch Hills are the only very good ones. I don't understand why there are no complaints when the district has failed miserably in it's responsibility to provide a good education. I think the reason for the significant decline is when you set your standards based on a system that is really bad. To put it back on an upward trend The Principal should be more independent and innovative and separate herself from a really bad school district.

I was surprised to see the last post about staff coming late and leaving early. In fact, the opposite seems to be true in my opinion. I can see my kids teachers cars in the parking lot usually until 5pm. I see a full staff parking lot even on Friday mornings on late start when I drop my kids off. Obviously they have morning meetings and aren't easily seen around campus. These teachers have always been helpful. I wish all schools had teachers as capable as ours!

The school is a fantastic facility. The district and community seem to work hard at keeping the facilities updated. The staff are very nice and friendly for the most part. I had two children attend this school from 2005 through present. The one concern I have with the school is that the hour are - simply - bizarre. They have an early dismissal on Wednesday. This is supposedly to allow for one hour of teacher planning. However, the teachers are consistently observed to leave early on these days. In addition, they have a late start on Friday. Again, teachers apparently don't need to plan, as they arrive almost as school starts. Good luck!

My daughter attended Ranch Hills from 2nd -6th grade. This was a wonderful school with challenging teachers, high academic expectations and great paretnal involment. I did like the principal, but I know she has received mixed reviews in the past. She was fair and I was impressed that she knew every childs name and encouranged high academic accoutability. This school was a great fit for my daughter and I would strongly recommend this to any parent looking to place their child in a high acheiving school.

This year we have a new principal. She is awesome. She is great with the kids and the parents. Her door is open at all times to speak to you. With her this school is now complete. Awesome principal, awesome teachers.

This is an awesome school to say the least. The teachers go out of their way to assist the students and work with the parents to make sure that no child is left behind. The parents here are extemely helpful, and the PTA does everything in their power to ensure that our children don't miss out on anything. To bad that the same cannot be said about the principal. The only thing that matters to the principal is how to increase the API scores without ensuring that the children learn the basics.

Ranch Hills has a family feel to it. Everyone has a smile and lends a helping hand. Teachers are outstanding and really care about our children. PTA and parental volunteers are The Best in the West. They all work hard to make sure our children have what they need and plan events that bring us all together.

I love that the Principal is very involved and is willing to work along with the teachers and parent volunteers. Also, the teachers are very engaged in the school and not just there for a pay check; they seem to really care about the school, the kids and the educational outcome.

I love Ranch Hills because the faculity just doesnt come to work and perform there responsibilites, they go above and beyond their call of duties. All faculty are very tentative to the kids and is a very well deserved school. This is why i love Ranch Hills.

My child came to Ranch Hills two years old. I have been impressed with the high expectations and quality of education she has received. The principal, teachers and support staff have tried hard to identify ways my child can best learn. We have enjoyed the many family activities held for the students. We attended the movie night, Cinderella Ball, Variety Show and Author Share nights. I haven't been able to volunteer a lot but appreciate the teacher and parent support. I feel welcomed and happy my child is attending this school.

All around A+ school from the principal, to the teachers, to the office staff, to the campus supervisors!!! I believe since the new administration came in and many of the old timers have retired or have moved onto greener pastures (haha).,it is a more relaxed atmosphere throughout the entire campus. My children have enjoyed the many events throughout the school year and now my new family members that will be coming to Ranch Hills will be able to experience the fun and exciting times my family and I have enjoyed here. As the saying goes it definitely is the 'Best In the West!'

My wife and I find the Office staff VERY unprofessional and rude! My son has attended there for 3 years now and resides with his mother there. I have requested on several occations to have info mailed to my home so that i may be better informed of things going on. I have not received one thing in 3 years, forcing me to take this matter to the District. The ooffice personal is very rude to both me and my wife and it is sad that i cannot seem to get any info on my own child, such as, report cards, info about parent nights, back to school nights, whatever. I wonder if I am the only non-custodial parent being treated this poorly!!!

I am a very unhappy parent. Since the change of the principal, the school has gone down hill, fast! The principal is uncaring, self-absorbed, and many of the parents, teachers, and children complain about her non-stop. Unlike the past principal, she goes through the motions of being a 'pal'.

As a former student at Ranch Hills, I can honestly say that Ranch Hills is the best school ever. The teachers care about all of the students and they are just so wonderful. The staff is outstanding, and the Principal is great. No school can beat Ranch Hills, it is the BEST school. You won't regret your child/children attending it.

This is an excellent school, very student oriented. The ladies in the office know all kids I saw, by name . . impressive when there are so many. My daughter is already reading beginner books, doing basic math and is very excited to go to school everyday. I helped out on a weekly basis in my daughters classroom and was amazed at things they were learning. Her teacher Mrs. Tenney is awsome. She loves the kids and works wonders with them. She definetely has the touch, sturn but playful too and the kids loved her. I really like this school and I'm comparing others to it for when we have to move :(

As the principal of Ranch Hills Elementary School, I would like to say that the parents and the teaching staff make this school not only Distinguished but a Blue Ribbon school also. The parents are very supportive and back the school 100%. The teachers work long hours to ensure that no children are left behind. One of remarkable aspect of Ranch Hills is that the teachers give up their time after school to work with those students at risk. Ranch Hills is very diverse with over 16 various languages spoken at home and at the school. This provides a rich and cultural background for all children to learn from

Ranch Hills has a top-notch leader who sets the tone for the school. Not only is the principal academically driven, but very personal as well. I think is is a very important element when choosing a school. Great support system among the teachers as well. Can't say enough good things about it.

This is a school where both teachers and parents are very involved. Despite budget cuts, education has never suffered. PTA is very active here. The overall environment is conducive to the highest level of education. I also believe that the location of the school (in the family oriented beautiful community of Phillips Ranch) is one of the greatest factor. This is also a very safe school.

The focus on attitude, achievement and motivation are great. There is a student pledge and the students are taught to be responsible. Anti-bullying is also a hugh initiative. The curriculm is standard California with additions. but presented in such a way that the children enjoy their studies. There is a high parental involvement. there is a huge school spirit led personally by the principal. Great programs and the kids are actually excited and proud to be at Ranch Hills. - Many motivating programs and a personal touch with the parents. this is a great school. My child is excelling and enjoys going to school every day.

Ranch Hills creates a great foundation for learning, but the involvement for students in school-wide activities are very scarce. There are no extracurricular activities held at the school, the ASB is not enthusiastic, and many of the school-sponsored assemblies are a flop. The teaching is great. The fundraisers are horrible.

What a wonderful environment Mrs. Hedricks and her staff have created for these students to achieve. This school is wonderful and is dedicated to all students. As the parent of a special needs child, I am grateful to this school and this administrator for the devotion, guidance and leadership. With the help of these fine educators, all children are provided a great base by which to grow and realize their dreams! These children will go far, thanks to Ranch Hills! Way to go Rattlers!

We only have two more years at Ranch Hills and will miss the experience my children have enjoyed so much! Nothing better than knowing your children are safe and cared for in a great learning environment. Way to go Mrs. Hedricks.
