Newbridge has been a Godsend for our son. Not only did they give him the academic boost that he needed, but also the organizational skills that will take him through high school. Our once dejected son now beems with confidence. We are so grateful to Steve and the incredible staff at Newbridge.
NewBridge made the difference in my son... My son started NewBridge the summer before going into 4th grade and he is now in 8th grade. Since day one I saw a difference in him; he was happy to go to school, he takes pride in his work and he loves to learn. All this is because of all the teachers and staff at NewBridge!!! Words can not express how grateful and thankful I am to have found NewBridge. My son is a confident young man and eager to learn. He has the tools to succeed if he desires. Thank you Mr. Mayo and NewBridge..
As a former teacher at NewBridge School, I can tell you that it is a dream come true for any student who needs a little extra support. Education is truly individualized, as the staff works tirelessly with each student to help him or her find learning strategies that work best for them. Teachers not only collaborate with each other, but also with parents, Speech and Language, and Occupational Therapy, to ensure that all bases are being covered. NewBridge's safe and nurturing environment allows students to feel confident enough to identify their strengths and weaknesses, and to take ownership of their education. The campus is beautiful, the kids are happy, and everyone who tours the school says I want to go here! It was a breath of fresh to come to work, and the philosophy and attitude of the school's leaders is nothing short of incredible. I can't sing its praises enough!
New Bridge, their adminstration and staff have been a key element of our son's academic success. We were scared and worried about what to do when our son was diagnosed with a learning disorder. New Bridge was recommended by our speech therapist. Our son attended from the summer after his 1st grade thru 8th grade. The coping skills, learning techniques and confidence he gained was invaluable. Our son is now a junior in a public high school, earning a better than 3.8 grade point and is getting minimal extra academic support. Our son himself, had very much to do with his own success to date, but we are convinced that New Bridge helped build his foundation.
Run, don't walk from this school! Very poor communication from the teachers and especially the principal/owner. Teachers are afraid to speak freely because of principal. There are better choices for your special needs child. Pretends to be a supportive environment, but isn't. You cannot view a class (per state law) because the owner/principal will not let you. Not electronics friendly - no updates on homework or class activities via email. If your child struggles with organizational skills - they will be the only conduit for everything. It's a joke.
My son attended NewBridge for 8 years starting the summer before first grade. He has a central processing disorder and delayed language. The teachers at NewBridge are dedicated and outstanding, but what lifts NewBridge head & shoulders above all the other schools is the vision and commitment of Steve Mayo and Margaret Shefitc. They will not accept anything less than success for their students and provide the necessary framework to accomplish it. They stress learning strategies which my son has taken into high school with great success.
Thanks to NewBridge my son went from four years behind grade level to an independent learner in public high school. He is Diploma bound for next year and passed his exit exam on the first attempt. Thank you NewBridge for believing in my son !
Attending Newbridge was a wonderful experience for my daughter. She transferred there as a fourth grader and immediately felt welcomed by both the staff and students. The school fosters a sense of belonging and celebration of differences. They help the students set lofty goals; and then help them to achieve those goals through the right combination of nurturing and high expectations. Newbridge kids work very hard and learn to be responsible for their own learning.
