i love it to its the best place to raise kids and the schools are great
Cordova is a wonderful school compared to some others I've been to. My mom graduated in '92 which was a huge inspiration for me to do the same. She even knew Mr. Wells!!!!!
cordova is the best place that i've ever been to. i love it and the people there. i would do it all over again if given the chance. goooo c/o 2008!!
I am a parent of a Cordova HIgh school student. At fierst I was not so sure of my daughter goping to a school with -not the best reputation- but now after three years that my daughter has attended that cordova i have change my mind. Cordova used to be a power hose. Built by the pride honor and respect of the students, teachers, faculty and parents. Now it has been moraly niglected and students do not feel the same. but it still has honorable teachers that support our students and the fact that they come from cordova. my daughter calls herself 'lucky ' to be a lancer. and is part off a group of students dedicated to keep up lancer pride.
Alot of people rag on CORDOVA. I think that the people that do are the ones who never tried in class, ditched rallys, and looked for trouble. We have a spirited and diverse school, with awesome acedemic and extracurricular activities. Comments like that bring a distorted image of CORDOVA.CORDOVA brings the community together. GO BIG RED!
Very impressive. Principal and staff are very caring, and are very involved with the success of the children.
I graduated from Cordova in '03 and now I'm sending my brother-in-law there because he was failing at his previous school and I know he'll have a better opportunity at Cordova. I am a military brat and I have been to many schools (rich, poor and government funded). I was a little disillusioned when I started at Cordova, but the teachers that I had taught me so much. I admit some of the teachers shouldn't be educators, but if anyone ever has a problem with the teaching then moving a student to another class was never a problem (as it is in other schools). The staff makes a point of trying to be accomodating. The diversity is important because it helps foster acceptance and understanding among the students. I am about to finish a B.A. degree from CSUS and I owe my success to Cordova.
I was at the school, and the entire time I was there, I didn't feel like I was learning anything of real use, despite the fact that these were similar classes to my previous years. In fact, I voluntarily took some of them over again since I had not learned some properly in the past, and I ended up learning less in Cordova than in any of my other high schools. As far as I know, there were few parents involved, and the art programs seemed to be only when teachers felt like they wanted to take the time to plan things. All in all, I think there are better schools the students of the area could go to.
Cordova High School is a wonderful school. I was very impressed at the latest technology they use in the classrooms. The teachers are great, very motivated and enthusiastic. There is a plethora of opportunity for our children at Cordova High.
Cordova is a pretty great school. It is getting diverse every year which is great because you get to learn about different cultures and religions. For sports, cordova does not only focus on football, yeah its known for that, but it also focuses on the sport that you play for whatever season it is such as tennis, soccer, basketball, etc. Academics wise, its great as well because the teachers get involved with the students if the students are failing, okay with grades, and with great grades. Basically the teachers care if the students pass or not. Its easy to focus on school knowing that there is no drama and problems of any kind are rare to occur. So I say again, cordova is a pretty great school and I would have my child go here someday.
Cordova is an excellent school, teachers try hard to help, and us as students try to listen and understand. I do think that more parents should get involved and listen to their children and their different objections and their ideas.
This school was awesome! Small community so by the time you get to high school you know everyone. The teachers care about the students, you just have to care about your education. When I went ther I was in honors classes, and I am now at UC Davis, so you can definitely be successful! Very diverse which is great. You just have ot care.
In response to most of the comments that are negative. If you look hard enough at any school you will find the worst in it. All schools are known for specifics Cordova just happens to be football. The teachers and counselors get as involved as parents do. I have struggled with my child, but the faculty has stepped up and has been and will continue to work with us till graduation. As an Alumni I am thrilled that my daughters attend the same school
I went to to Cordova high, it is the best school. it is not the teachers fault if the kids do not asks for help, or focus in class. It is the students fault for hanging out with their friends Catherine Gazi
This is the worst school ever! All the teachers are do not know how to teach. The kids all go in to their own clicks and talk to no one alse. There is zero parent involvement. Academic is just as bad, the only thing is football and if you do that you are a hero to all at this school (in teacher's minds).
The academic programs at this school are horrible. The sports(football) are basically the center of the school. The level of parent involvement is pathetic. I hate this school.
A mulitcultural school. Focused on getting the students through. If the students are dedicated and driven they will have a good experience, otherwise they will just get through.
I do not like the school no communication w/ parents/teachers. Can nit reach any one by phone and my student was not failing till we attented this school.
Cordova has great teachers who really care about their students and they really get involved with them and make them think. Cordova has a great staff who are truly concerned about the well being of the students. Overall it is a great school.
My education at Cordova wasn't the best acadeic education I could have gotten. Lots of kids fall through the cracks. But the sheer diversity of the student body is an unbelievable experience, and just about makes up for Cordova's shortcomings. The Cordova students I know where so used to diversity and so resourceful that they did better in college than many people who went to 'better' schools. Cordova looks and sounds like a UN meeting- people from all over the world. Nothing can compare to growing up and learning in that environment. But safety, dicipline and most importantly funding were big problems, despite a very dedicated faculty.
