I just promoted from CMS and honestly it wasn't a great experience for me. My friends always got bullied and it always got ignored. There are absolutely no activities here either. TH The staff sides with the "cool" kids (kids that drank coffee and cursed) and the teachers promote cursing and immorality. I only give it 2 stars because two of my teachers, Mrs. Gibson, 6th Grade , and Mrs. Tincknell,7th Grade both had a positive influence on me. The librarian and the vice principal are awesome too. Another thing is that kids start cursing here in 6th grade and all the new kids have bad attitudes. There is no doubt that your kid either won't like it here or will become just like these kids.
I do not feel CMS supports children with learning and attention issues well. Despite our advocacy which resulted in 3 staff being specially trained in helping children with learning issues specific to reading, they have not implemented it effectively. At times they have even seemed antagonistic toward this evidenced based model that has been successful with our daughter. In addition, we have had to babysit the educators on every detail of our daughters IEP. Accommodations are only adhered to when we follow up and check periodically on their implementation. The tendency of the school staff is to do whatever they have planned for the class often failing to consider the special needs of children with learning issues. We have had to file compliance complaints in order for the staff for be more conscientious. Through our diligence and the perseverance of our daughter, she has been successful through her time here. The staff have been very cordial and nice to our daughter as she is a model student with a sweet disposition. I have often wondered how they may have reacted toward children, especially those with attention issues, who may not present as positively as my daughter.
Both my brother and I attended this school. While I promoted in 2007 and he in 2011 there was a huge difference in experiences even though we had a few of the same teachers. If the student is a well-behaved kid who wants to succeed, teachers will go out of their way to help that student. The down side is that peer pressure and bullying goes ignored. Teachers don't like confrontation and why should they? The problem is that my brother had a rough time coping with that awkward age and did not have the school's support at all. With classroom sizes increasing and cheaper real estate, the school hasn't had time to adapt and it shows. Also, academically, this school is definitely not the best and will frustrate a more academically oriented student with its pace.
Best teacher ever specially Mr. Mitchell and Mr. Arias and Mrs.Cox Thank you very much for your supporting my son
This school is one I would not recommend. If you have a problem, don't bother going to the principal, he will always side with his staff and not hear you out. He has been there way too long and they need some fresh blood to lighten up the school.
I loved this school. It is awesome and I think that any kid who goes there will too. The teachers have a high-level of thinking, and the material that they teach kids is wonderful. The campus is big and clean, allowing students to circulate during lunch and enjoy themselves. This school gives out such a caring vibe from the moment you walk into it. It is inviting and I think that your child will love it there.
I love this school because the faculty and staff at this school puts so much of their heart and soul and care to ensure that the children that attend the school are well taken care of, and communicate with the parents as to the progress of the children. I moved from the inner city, my daughter was failing, since attending cucamonga middle school she has been plaed on honor roll. The teachers make all of the children who attend this school to provide them with a positive experience with their education and give them wonderful memories to last them a lifetime.
i am a student at cms and i love it my teachers are the best and for those of you that disagree i don't know what your talking about
This school is the bomb! Everyone is nice respectful, and smart! The teachers will never give up on teaching you and the students are all dedicated to thier work! The school is big, clean, and cool! The programs are awesome. Send your child here! This is the best!!!
I'm new here, and i have to say it's a pretty good school.I enjoy being with my friends and learning in different ways.Over all it's a cool and fun school.
I have one child in this school right now but three others have passed through over the years as well. ALL have had great experiences there and have enjoyed it.
I had enrolled My Daughter's Jakie And Maria. They Injoyed this so much. Maria Had graduated Last Year And Jakie is injoying Band
I have just recently enrolled my daughter, Caroline, into CMS and I am proud of this school. Going out on a limb and enrolling my child in public school after years of private wasn't easy but CMS hasn't let me down. My daughter has now gone from a B student to a A student. She is exceeding in math and getting better in reading. I am proud of CMS and their teachers.
My daughter was involved in the music program and I was impressed with the quality of lessons she received. Be usre to check out the afterschool Strings program. My daughter learned to play the Violin!
Both my kids attend/attended CMS, My son who is now 18 graduated from CMS, and my daughter who is a 7th grader attends there. It is a great school with concerned, and qualified teachers, I am always informed of my daughters grades, behavior & participation by her teachers, and I love the Homework hotline which allows me to check that my daughter is doing the homework assigned for each class, that really keeps me one step ahead.
Our son just started at CMS in August, but I'm already convinced that it is a great school. The principal puts forth a highly organized program that focuses on student responsibility and learning. The teachers clearly work together to help the students work toward their potentials, both individually and as a group. We feel fortunate to have our son at this school.
CMS has turned out to be an excellent choice for my child. Previously schooled in private school, CMS is the conduit needed to bridge him to high school. The teachers we have encountered have been open and willing to provide extra help when needed. In particular is the history department for 7th grade! The department head is wonderful and brings history alive for the students! The school provides regular progress reports and all are available via email to disucss your child. The PRIDE progra has been a rewarding experience as well. I beleive the school has prepared my chold for the next step to high school.
I highly recommend this school. The music dept. is wonderful. Mr. Nalbach is a great teacher. This is my daughter's second year and I think the staff is exceptional. Parking is the only problem I have had. I think the office staff is overwhelmed with problems, but the vice principal/counselors are great. Try it. See for yourself!
I have mixed feelings about this school. My child has had some exceptional teachers in math and music, but some of the others seem to be just putting in time. Maybe it's time for some of those teacher to choose another career since they don''t seem to be excited about teaching any more.
Out of most schools CMS is a great school. It meets all of my standards. If your looking for a good place to send your child, send him/her here.
