I have two children who have attended Soleado. The school is primarily Asian (~70%) so if you are after ethnic diversity, it does not have it. Lots of parent participation, great teachers, an energetic principal and a very safe neighborhood. We sent our son to Cornerstone in RPV and would have gone to Soleado instead
My daughter just completed her DK year at Soleado. I cannot say enough about Mrs. O'Brien and Mrs. Frengs - my daughter grew so much in her year at Soleado. The things she learned, the love and guidance that she recived.......I am so glad that her first school experience was such a positive and nurturing one. Mr. Allen(the principal) is full of energy and is always involved with the school activities, from greeting every car at drop off to running in the Fun Run!
Wow! This is my daughter's 3rd year at Soleado. We were previously with LAUSD and what a difference. The commitment and participation of the parents, teachers and administration is truly superb. She has learned so much about technology. Mrs. Clement was wonderful. Mr. Allen is the most most caring and hard working principal I have ever encountered. Soleado was the best choice we made 3 yrs ago.
My son is a 2nd grader and has been at the school for 2 years. The school is absolutely amazing. My son has really flourished. The principal is creative and energetic. My only wish is that getting information about school start and teacher assignments was easier to obtain and much more timely at the start of the year.
Soleado is unique in that it has an open classroom environment. Some are concerned about this but it works well for the kids. They do alot of group activities with the other kids from other class rooms leading to a great communtiy feel within the school. All of the kids know eachother. My only complaint would be that if your child is needing moderate resource or special ed help the teaching staff is not very understanding of the needs of the special ed chldren. I have been told by a teacher that she is not a special ed teacher should not have to take special ed children into her classroom. I find this issue within the entire district not just this school. The children go on great field trips every year. If you have a child that excels this school will nurture this and is a great school.
This is a great school for kids. Lots of parent involvement and great teachers who really care. The new principal is awesome!
My kids love this school for its great teachers and great education.
We came to this school in early December of this year. We have a child going into 1st, 3rd and 5th. I feel very fortunate that we were able to get into this school. I don't think my childeren would be able to get a better education anywhere.
