As a former student of this school, I can say that although Most teachers do have a great deal of talent, and are great instructors. The facilities really left a lot to be desired. The Text Books outdated, and other resources ie Maps, Computers, etc. Left a lot of Students w/ a lot of questions. The Social Justice' class as it was called is a joke, at best with an incredibly forced sense of ethics, that aren't very open to criticism, or even debate. Mr. Lyon is one of the greatest teachers I have ever had, and always manages to make a somewhat tedious class (History) seem incredibly lively and interesting. Mr. Matthews is incredibly selfless, and will go far out of his way to ensure that students perform well, and Mr. Cherveney is an excellent motivator, and lastly Mrs. Arbini makes Literature incredibly fun!
I've got one graduate and one still there. Good things come in small packages. Small school in rural community. Motivated students, dedicated teachers. Facilities are the only negative, somewhat old, but adequate if not sumptuous. Emphasis on college prep. Students want to go somewhere. Good connections to good colleges. Principal and teachers will really put themselves out to help students learn, and to get to the college they want. Outstanding English/writing program. Solid in math, science. Foreign language is limited-Spanish only. Choir, art, excellent theater program and all major sports offered, and, as a small school, open to all. No music program. Motto is 'You climb as high as the ladder you select.' They mean it.
Very small school, with very poor administration. Some good and some great teachers. Mr. Matthews is a great advanced math teacher. The school does cater to college prep students and there is a general atmosphere that promotes going to college. This is largely provided by the students and a few teachers.
