Great teachers. Down-to-earth parents. Top-notch education with gifted program and resources for those who need help. We've been there many years and love it!!! It's the parents, kids and teachers who really make it great!
This is a great school, the teachers and principal really care about the students, parent involvement is very high, great educational programs.
Jefferson has some of the most involved parents I've ever encountered. We truly come together as a community to support our kids and teachers, especially when budgets get cut - we pull together to try and make the school experience the best possible for everyone involved. I'm so happy we 'lucked' into this school - it's make all the difference in both of my sons' lives.
I love this school. The parents are extremely involved, the principle is outstanding and my daughter's teacher was phenomenal. There more volunteers for my daughters class than hours to volunteer, plus the running club, Hands-On Art and Living Well programs were all staffed by deeply committeed volunteers who did an outstanding job. The principal leads by example and never asks anyone to do anything she won't do herself (she even leads morning exercises and was bagging groceries or cleaning up after fund raisers). My daughters teacher was amazing, truly one of the best teachers I have ever encountered.
Jefferson goes above and beyond to make the parents and students welcome every day and create an environment that will excel their learning. Our daughter is in 2nd grade and we have regular communication with her teacher through email or in person when needed. Having access to her to ask a quick question or share what's going on with our daughter is a great way to build a partnership with the teachers. We have had a wonderful experience and I HIGHLY recommend Jefferson to area parents. Our daughter also has SEVERE nut allergies and Jefferson has come a long way in the past 2 years to create nut free areas for the kids to have lunch but also not make them feel isolated by allowing them to invite one friend to the nut free tables each day....it really makes a difference! Great teachers, great environment, great school!!!
My daughter is in 1st grade at Jefferson and we love it. She also had a great kindergarten teacher.
We transfered from another school within the district, and wow what a difference. There are many reasons why Jefferson rates the highest. The parent involvement is more than the same 30 parents, the teachers truely take the time to work with every student, and the principal is always there. Principal Edmunds is available not only to the parents but for his staff, and students. I have seen him first hand on the yard and the kids go out of their way to chat and say hello. He knows all the students by name, and makes everyone feel very welcome and part of a family. If you want your child to exceed any expectations you would want them at Jefferson.
Jefferson seems to offer the children what they need to advance. I feel the teachers should be approachable and that they should always try to be a positive example for the chldren not make them shy away from asking questions when needed. Overall Jefferson has come a long way.
What a wonderful school and community in general. Everyone is always more than helpful and friendly. This has been my sons greatest learning adventure he comes home with something new to talk about everyday.
Jefferson overall has an excellent program; however, an individual teacher will make a big difference. One of the teacher has a reputation to be discourging to students. I didn't know how bad it was until my child was a student in her class. Over only a course of a few months, I saw his confidence level went from high to unacceptably low. You need to ask parents from prior years who are the best teachers.
My son is attending the Kindergarten. It is an excellent school. The teachers are wonderful. It is our first year. And so far, we both love this school and recommend it highly.
Jefferson Elemetary is the best elementary school in Redondo. The teachers and adminstration care about their students and put out the extra effort to make the educational process not only successful, but also a fun.
Academically, pretty good school. Best in the RB district, but test scores not as high as surrounding areas (which have more homogeneous, high income families). Mixed bag of teachers: some outstanding (both new & veterans), some don't try that hard, some just not that bright. School has suffered from turmoil in the district last 3-4 years, plus lack of leadership by principal. However, new principal seems very promising & proactive. No real art or sports to speak of (except Hands on Art program 6 times/year). Vocal music program sad...my kids hated it. PTA historically strong, although not particularly good at reaching out to include lots of parents. Raises tons of money, but has fallen out of the all-district network (PTA Council), where much information about workings of the district & other schools is disbursed. PTA doesn't keep parents informed...but you can learn a lot by getting involved. Overall, a B+
Decent school, however, my daughter had a terrible experience with the teacher. She was an awful teacher.
The PTA is great in involving parents with teachers and informing them about their kids. Although the extracurricular activites are declining because of budget problems, the teachers give students great teaching experiences.
This is the school many parents want their children to attend. Outstanding academic program. Teachers truly care about their students and take pride in what they do. Parent involvement is high. Parents love this school and all it has to offer.
This is a fantastic school. There is great parent involvement, amazing teachers as well as students. Great PTA. I am honored to say my child attends this school and feel he is getting an incredible education.
