Bullying, racism and nobody cares!!! Teachers and administration pretend not to see what is going on!
This school is good. the teachers are strict but they really prepare you for high school. The kids are considerate and there is not that much DRUG use.
My grandson attends here and they seem to have a very rounded curriculum. He loves it there!
My son's attitude towards his education and school in general since he began attending Parras in 2008. The teachers seem to be more interested in being administrators than they do teaching and the administrators seem to be more interested in tearing down a students self esteem rather than providing a path for improvement and then seeing it through. Do all educators hate teenagers these days? After all Redondo Beach is not a ghetto but that's how the students are perceived and treated.
The administration is the very best, the teachers care, and it's an awesome educational environment for my child. It has a strong PTA, too.
I found the staff to be very nice and helpful. I was surprised to see how underfunded the school was. The school needs books (just look in the library and ask teachers about classroom books), simple maintenance like paint and clean up in certain areas like pressure wash the concrete, etc. i could say more but won't. It appears the staff is trying but also obvious they are frustrated by the 'system' and have their hands tied in certain areas.
It's a well rounded school with great teachers, a great team of food service workers and other staff!
parras is a good school but not a very good pe program
The teachers run the school and as other posters have said, some are good, some are poor. The biggest problem is the lack of teacher communications. On average, I'd say that 1/2 the teachers have NO INTEREST in students. They're just there for the 200 day work year and the early retirement. Some are excellent, but they aren't the RULE.
I don't like most of the teachers some are to social and personal and some don't care what your student gets. There is one that yells way to much and is very unfair
