I have had my interesting 4 years at Redondo. To be quite honest some of the teachers I had were lacking passion, but I was very happy with what I had. All of my teachers were very helpful when I needed help they were there for me when I needed it. I would not have graduated without the help of my teachers and counselor. I had a great time at redondo but unfortunately it was under construction for most of my high school experience. Thanks Redondo for the best High School experience I could ask for.
I have had maybe two teachers out of my three and a half years at Redondo that I thought were decent and intelligent. I've had student teachers that knew less about the topic they were teaching than I did before I even took the class. I recently experienced a long term substitute teacher that was oblivious to the subject they were supposed to be teaching us. Many of the teachers I've had at Redondo have been kind, but lack the knowledge it takes to teach teenagers. Other than teachers, staff and administration members are far from helpful, dull, and unfriendly.
Our campus is gorgeous now, after all of the construction that has been taking place, but the overall attitude of the school and it's employees ruins the picture perfect high school. I am left leaving Redondo High after all four years, feeling as though I now know what the "real world" is like and how incompetant the people paid to help mold kids into adults are. Hopefully this is not the case for other high schools in different districts; I want my children in the future to have a good education that will benefit them later in life.
I've been at Redondo Union High School since my freshman year, and I am now a senior. I liked the school when I was first enrolled but found many bad qualities throughout the years. One thing that I highly disapprove of is the staffs' intentions on helping kids that won't exactly get into a university out of high school. For exceptionally smart kids, their four years at Redondo was predetermined for them; urging students to take the recommended classes the counselors suggested. However for average students it is hard to even make an appointment to see your counselor. None of this is from my personal experience so I am not bashing the school, although I did observe how things like these have increased among my peers. I do not believe it is right to tend to "smart" students before everyone else.
Wonderful school, great staff., All around the best
I am now a sophomore at Redondo Union, and honestly, I love this High School so much. It's incredible and the majority of teachers are friendly. The classes are fun and educating and I learn alot from the teachers. The other students that go here are so nice too! This year however, our school is packed with tons of freshmen so our school is way to overcrowded.
With a supposed 8 rating this school is made out to be one of the better schools in LA County. How far from the truth! The school is much too large to properly serve all its students; most people in the office have no idea who my son is. Classes are unchallenging, students who want to learn are taken down by those just taking up space. Discipline is not sufficiently enforced and some teachers appear to be lacking in education themselves. There are some wonderful and caring teachers at this school - but they stand out by sadly not being the norm.
Redondo is the best school in the South Bay! The teachers are caring and they genuinely want every student to succeed. Teachers will stay after school long hours just to make sure a student understands the material being taught. The teachers recognize each student as an individual. Even though I am now an alumnus of RUHS, I can still walk onto the campus and have teachers and staff call me by name. Redondo is more than just a high school, it is a family. Everyone sticks together and supports each other. Of course, no school is perfect, but the Principals handle any situation that may arise between students or students and teachers. Redondo made high school a more enjoyable experience for me.
I am alumni and RUHS gave me the best high school experience I could have ever asked for. The teachers were excellent and I still keep in touch with a few of them. The administrators truly care about the students as well. Each student has their own activities and most students respect each other. Sure there are a few problem students but that is at every school. Redondo is an excellent school!
theres too much drugs that the teachers are oblivious to or are just refusing to do anything about. other than that, most of my teachers are well trained and know how to teach.
