This is a large, urban public school. That being said, I found that my children have received excellent educations from mostly wonderful teachers. The Magnet program is amazing. It is a Jewel in the LAUSD system. Other teachers outside of the magnet, have been mostly good, but not all of them. My children have been afforded some wonderful opportunities and experiences. One of my only contentions is how demanding the program is and that I believe that it could put some kids at a disadvantage for college. The competition is so stiff. It might be easier for a bright student to place higher in another school. But on the other hand, these kids graduate and score highly on the SATs and really know how to write and express themselves. My eldest has found UC Berkeley easy compared to the CORE Program. I hope they keep their standards high. One other point...magnet students cannot take many APs. Again, not sure if this hurts for college or not.

The only good thing about this school is the Core Program, aside from this everything else is in need of major improvement

I have had quite a few problems at this school. They NEVER answer the phone! I have been trying to contact the school this morning to no avail. I am calling as I write this. They have had 2 LOCK DOWNS since school started 8-15-2012 so far. Some of my daughters possessions, HER CLOTHING, were stolen out of a LOCKED classroom, they had no interest in finding out what happened to her clothes and asked us if she was sure she wore pants! I AM QUESTIONING IF MY CHILD SHOULD REMAIN AT THIS SCHOOL. THEY BOAST THAT THIS IS A WONDERFUL SCHOOL, BUT A FEW PARENTS ARE HAVING SOME SERIOUS DOUBTS!!

Grover Cleveland High School is a fantastic Public High School because the teachers really care about the students and work hard to help them succeed. It is wonderful to have such a great public school to send my son to. It is also very well run.

I was a student in the Cleveland Magnet from 1994-1997, and now my little brother in law is a student in the magnet. It is an amazing public school that truly prepared me for college level work. The curriculum was impressive to me when I was a student there and seems to have only improved even though the rest of the LAUSD school system has declined.

It's a place where students are taught to think not just memorize

I'm a ninth grader and already love Cleveland high school magnet. Were at a public school and are getting a private school education. It's amazing that after all the budget cuts that LAUSD has had. Were having a speaker come that's the author of the new York times best seller coming this Monday that's coming up to talk to us about his amazing book. It would be such a shame for Cleveland to not be able to continue such a fantastic program that it has to offer. Cleveland is also a California distinguished school which shows even more what a great school Reseda is. Just last year, one of its past attendants went to Yale because of the way the teachers prepare you so well for the real world. The teachers push you really hard but they know that it will prepare us for college and a great career when we grow up. So please consider Grover Cleveland High School as a choice for favorite schools. Thank you.

Because of the dedication, skill levels and caring of Cleveland's teachers, my daughter graduated with honors and enthusiasm for learning. She's off to UCSF, and I couldn't be prouder! Great work, Cleveland!
