My grandson started Kindergarten this year, and Monroe has been an excellent school for him so far. He's learned so much, both socially, and academically. I also like the school location and size. It's a neighborhood school, set among houses, far from the main street. The staff are friendly and caring. I also like the habitat that was recently built.

I have two children currently enrolled and another for next year. I am more than pleased with the teachers and staff. I am not without complaints I agree that discipline could be strengthened. In regards to underprivileged or underfunded I disagree. most of the parents I've met are homeowners like myself and yes the school is underfunded. I don't personally know of any schools that arent right now. Great school, staff is open to parent concerns. Great school.

This school did not meet my expectations for my daughter. The principal was frequently walking in with the students as the bell rang and the teachers seemed to have a very casual, non professional attitude that was characterized by non professional attire and attitudes in dealing with parents. Very disappointing considering many of the students are underprivileged and would benefit from seeing role models in their community as professional people.

I thought Monroe was a great school when I first enrolled my children. But 2 years later, alot has changed and it seems the school never has the money to assist students who need extra help or enough teachers and aides to assist the kids. I don't feel my children are being educated the right way anymore and they are not learning the way they should be. Monroe doesn't seem to care about the kids like they once did. Now all they seem to care about is who gets to keep their job and how they can take away even more money from the children. If it weren't for the kids, that school would never be around. They seem to forget that. Disappointment is now what I think of when I think of Monroe.

I've had two kids go through Monroe for 7 years. The teachers were great, my kids teachers all offered extra support to encourage them to be the best they could be. I still have my last one that will start the first grade in the fall and I'm looking forward to another great year. I've always have had the opportunity to request my kids teacher for the up coming years, so all my kids pretty much go through the same teachers my oldest had. Overall I think that Monroe is a great school that has the support of the community. Although there is only one thing I would change and that would be better discipline.
