I am only rating this school a 4 because they need real grass, trees and a multi-purpose room. Other than that, this school is perfect! Their curriculum is amazing and they are really good at motivating the kids to do their best. STAR testing isn't the emphasis here, so my kids were doing well above and beyond the meager state standards! Absolutely first class education!
I have been part of the Phoenix Family for many many years! I love the teachers and the small family atmosphere! My child has learned above and beyond what is being taught at the public schools! I could not be any happier with the Phoenix Schools!
Enrollment is low . . . BUT the academic curriculum is still strong regardless of the current low enrollment. I have compared the curriculum to local private & charter schools and it exceeds in all subjects. If you are looking for strong math, reading and spelling programs this is a great school. If you want a top notch music & art teacher nothing beats Ms. Nickens love for the subject! If you are looking for an amazing 1st grade teacher, Ms. Hamilton is the one! She offers homework time from 3:30-4:30pm for all her 1st graders everyday. Also, the school prides itself on its yearly Science fair which begins at the K-1 level.
Economic hardships has effected enrollment, but the school is determined on ensuring an excellent academic program. Kindergarten is at the K-1 level preparing all children for 1st grade. Ms. Michel is a great K-1 teacher w/ an awesome program made of organization, work centers and discipline. The music & art class is excellent. Just attend one of the yearly summer or winter programs and you will be impressed! The summer program is very organized and priced reasonable compared to other local summer programs. If you want daily activities & structure this is the summer school you should pick! The current down fall is corporate & the principal. Parents and teachers are fighting for better support and communication.
