I just love Tropico! I am going into 8th grade and I am moving. I will miss it very much. I know that if I had a choice I would go back. It is the best and all teachers are nice there! The music program's teacher is strict, funny, and really cool. I love everyone there!

I've had two children educated at TMS with my son promoting in 2007 and my daughter to promote in May. There are no 'perfect' schools. Seriously, can anyone say that anything is 100% perfect? TMS has it's share of problems but it's a great school with Steve Smith being a fantastic principal. I think Mr. Smith is extremely dedicated to getting to the bottom of any situation and finding out the truth of any incident. He is a great asset to the school and has a lot of challenges with trying to deal with kids coming from homes where the parents should be ashamed of themselves. The apple doesn't fall to far from the tree. So before you get bent that he didn't say hi to you in the office, remember, he might be on a mission to get to the bottom of something that might benefit your own child.

This is a terrible school. All issues here start with the administration on up. The curriculum they teach at this school is hardly acceptable.

Tropico is a good school. There are some disapline problems, but honestly it starts at home. They do not allow cursing yet there are a ton of 10-14 year olds that curse. That starts at home. There are kids that try to ditch. Ummm do their parents find it acceptable? Well they still do it. So what is the school sopposed to do if the parents have no consequences for their children. I am sorry but I work full time and so does my husband. My vacation days are taken to donate my time when the school or band/music program needs it. If that helps my daughter a bit with teachers and staff noricing her more in a positive light so be it. She deserves it. She is a good student with parents that care and are there and help. The money is not there anymore in the budget so anything

I have gotten emails from teachers and their spelling is horrible, it amazes me that they were able to become teachers. There are a lot of bullies at this school and it seems dress code is only enforced if you are not a 'friend' of any one in the school, after sitting through a hour dress code lecture that was so boring it seems a waste of parents time if they are not going to enforce expect for some students. There are children who are favored and it shows. I don't think this is a good learning environment for children. Some teachers there are very rude and they put in ed line and made a big fuss about it, but only two of our daughter's teachers use it so what is the point?

Mr Smith could be more friendly to parents. I've been in the office a number of times and he just walks by. I want a principle that says hello, have you been helped. Dress code is a little crazy. If a student has a shirt on that that is down to his or her pockets I think that's okay, but Tropico doesn't. Things like no sagging pants, low cut shirts, short shorts, and gang attire is certainly unexeptable. If they want to keep AR they need to supply more books and tests for the children. Most of the staff is nice but there are alot with an attitude and who feel they are above the parents. The school expects the children and parents to have respect for them, well they need to have respect for our children and the parents also. The school could look better.

I've taught at Tropico Middle School for eleven years, I think it's safe to say I'm in it for the long haul. I teach because it's my passion and the more I teach, the more I'm convinced that teachers who are passionate find a way. Tropico is an above average school and that is due to the Staff, parents, and students working together, but don't fool yourself into thinking that the Predo principal isn't in effect here. 10 % of the people do 90% of the work. The more Staff, parents, and students we can get to work hard at making Tropico Middle School an Excellent school, the better off we will all be.
