Exceptional school, led by Mrs. Stephanie Groat and a team of teachers and staff who go the extra mile. We are so grateful for our time at Maidu. In every way, it was a good experience, especially given the trying financial situation in California schools.
My son is in Kindergarten at Maidu. I am so impressed with the school, the teachers and the principal. My son loves his teacher, is loving school and learning to read so quickly, it is amazing!
The teachers are amazing! They all look out for the best interests of EACH child and does what it takes to make sure he or she succeeds. The school is continually trying to create new and positive learning strategies that make school fun for the kids as well as keep up with today's technological needs so the kids aren't left behind. Lastly, we have great parents who participate in school fund raising and all around fun family activities. It is a great community to belong to and one I will miss when we leave.
This is an amazing school. Doesn't matter if your child is a fast learner or a little slower and needs extra attention. Class sizes are nice teachers really care about each and every one of their students. Lots of communication and ways to keep family and school connected. We love Maidu did lots of research to get my child here.
Maidu is the perfect combination of friendly but still serious about education. Thye really care about the development of each child.
I have loved the years my kids have spent at Maidu School! The teachers have always been wonderful as has the prinicpal. Ms. Platt was very engaged with every aspect of the school and knowledgable. I was so sorry to see her leave to lead the middle school. Ms. Platt loves kids and thier test scores increased when she was here too! Everything is going well under the new principal too.
Principal has been replaced this year which is a positive step. I have been very pleased with the quality of teachers. PE, Art and Science programs are in place. Parent participation is welcome and plentiful. So far I haven't seen enough programs for those advanced in specific areas.
Principal did not show understanding, support for high achievers. It seems schools nowadays provide only the basics - Math, English and social studies. Science and art programs are offered through generous support of PTC and active parents participation. Music, sports/PE, second language, are not currently part of the program. GATE program is not offered until 4th grade and it only focuses on Math. Definitely not recommended for academically inclined, high achieving students.
Maidu Elementary is a wonderful school. Academics meet state standards, and the teachers & staff are truly serving the students. Lots of parent engagement and participation, provide a large volunteer network and additional funding that supports the schools music, arts, sports and other events. We have had a great experience, and know that our children have learned much, while having fun.
I wish the music, art, and sports were increased, but academically...no complaints. Everyone from the custodian to the principal works as a team so that students are safe and have everything they need. The teachers all work well together and my child has made many new friends.
My son attended Maidu K-2nd grade and will return next week ready for 3rd grade. My son loves school. Academically, the teachers share creative ideas from Kindergarten to 3rd grade. They're frequently assessing the student as an individual and always determing the needs of each child. Teachers look at each grade level and aims at improving math, reading, writing and spelling. I love the different patriotic themes for each grade level. Art and science docent, supported by PTC, are well developed by parents who were once teachers. There are an enourmous amount of generosity. We raised over $30,000 from ONE fund raiser. Classroom participation by parents are the envy of other public school. In each classroom, 90% of parents strive to contribute by bringing needed materials, volunteering in the classroom and library or donate money for classroom materials. Maidu is very similar to attending a private school.
This school is so perfect that it almost seems unreal. My son is going into the second grade, and I can only say great things about this school, district, teachers, and administrators. My son is doing great in school and loves to go. He has the best teachers that use up to date teaching strategies. They use cooperative learning groups and team teaching. My son learns without realizing it. Furthermore, this school and school district have a very high level of parent involvement. I am in the classroom every week for math lab. The teachers have something for everyone who wants to be a part of their childs academic career. In addition, the principal is down to earth and friendly to everyone. She takes the time to smile and say hi everyday. If you are looking for the best school for your child, Maidu is what you are looking for.
Both of my children went to Maidu for K-3 on a transfer from the Rocklin School District. We absolutely love having them at Maidu. They both have had great teachers and a great principal. I really like how this school district has such high expectations for the children in order to prepare them for future education. Both of my children are at or exceeding state requirements in all areas and I wouldn't move them for any reason.
My two youngest attended Maidu Elementary. Every employee at Maidu expressed positive support for every child's education and development at every opportunity that I interacted with them during the five years I was a Maidu mom. The teachers are the most experienced, energetic, thoughtful and dedicated I have ever encountered. They work enthusiastically to implement every curriculum to the fullest advantage of students, cooperatively at grade and between grade levels to ensure the success of every student. Detailed communication of expectations and achievement from every teacher empowers parental involvement which is welcomed and appreciated. Parents' professional experience creates activities and fundraisers which are stunningly well organized and executed; empowering, developing pride and competency in children. Discipline is thoughtful, children are encouraged and rewarded for awareness and reporting safety issues. We couldn't be more impressed, supportive and grateful to the Maidu K-3 staff, support staff and office staff of Ms. Jennifer Platt.
