My daughter went to Merryhill for one year, She was in the first grade. I pulled her out. because the teacher was ruining her self-esteem and she was being bullied by the older girls. Very little was done about it. The school has the students K-5h play all at the same time, which is a huge problem. They need more supervision and I don't like the idea that Kindergartners are at recess with the 5th graders. Also, my daughters teacher was ruining her self-esteem with harsh comments and belittling her in front of her peers. Despite the reviews and appearance, you will want to think twice before sending your child to Merryhill School in Roseville.

This is truly a fantastic school! The staff is amazing and they all know and greet my child with smiles and genuine care each and every day. There is something very special about a school where every teacher and staff member knows each and every student. I get the feeling that the staff/teachers truly care about my child which makes the decision to send her to school every day an easy feeling. In a day and age when safety is so important, I truly feel that my daughter is safe and happy when she is at school and that is of the utmost importance to me. The academics at the school provide an appropriate challenge and exceed what I have seen going on in other schools in our area. The class sizes are much smaller than public schools which allows for differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all the students. I continue to be very happy with the teachers and the principal has always been very responsive to any questions or concerns that have come up at any time and she is always there to listen to the parents. Excellent school!

I agree with the other reviews. All the teachers know your child's name, the academics are tailored to your child's level and the class size enables individualized attention. On the other hand, the facility is not just lacking, it is terrible and I dismissed the school on intial tour. The school, however, is more than the building itself. We are very much looking forward to the move to the new facility. The tuition is high, but if you are looking for a school where your child matters then look no further.

The previous comments all hold true, even the older ones. We have been extremely happy with the educational value of this school. Our children are thriving at Merryhill. Our kids are motivated and happy even though they are being challenged. The teachers and aids and administration are all amazingly attentive and caring for all of the students and parents and it's sincere. The current facility is lacking but we have always believed that it's the STAFF not the stuff that makes this school special. The new facility will definitely be a bonus!

Lovely school. My daughter has been at Merryhill for several years, and my son just started in Pre-K this last year. We have always loved the community feel, academic challenges, wonderful teachers. All the teachers know all the kids, and all the kids know each other other. We like the spirit of the school the best, and the school feels like it is helping to bring out the best in your kids. The physical property, however, left something to be desired - although safe it was certainly not glamourous - we are really looking forward to moving to the new campus for the next academic year. We have always been glad we made the choice to send our children to Merryhill.

Merryhill is a wonderful school. I am happy to say that the 7 reviews I have read here are all so true. This is my daughter's first year at Merryhill. I did a lot of research before choosing a school. I could not be happier with my choice. My daughter is getting the attention she needs through differentiated instruction. She loves the music and art programs. We have enjoyed getting to know the principal and all of the teachers. We look forward to many more years at Merryhill.

Seriously, what a GREAT school! Mrs. Curiel, our principal is always available and very approachable. The faculty is amazing. They all know everyone - every child and every parent! They are friendly and professional. The academics are strong and getting even stronger. This school has embraced the 21st century learner and is providing an environment that embraces technology, and life skills for the real world. We are proud to say that our children go to Merryhill!

Mrs. Curiel, the principal, provides a steady hand leading both the staff and the students. The staff is, as a whole, very responsive to parents' feedback. Children are excited to go to school. My 5 year old daughter, who is encouraged to play, often chooses to read books and do 'math games' because it is 'cool to be smart in school'. Citizenship, tolerance and kindness towards others, with clear boundaries are consistently encouraged. Art,music and sports are improving steadily. As a parent and a physician, I would recommend this school to anyone looking for a solid early foundation for children. I look forward to sending my younger daughter in the next few months.

It is a very safe and nurturing environment with plenty of feedback from parents. They might need to toughen the curriculum a bit more, but the kids are very happy there and there is lots of peace of mind for the parents.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
