In response to some of the older comments, this school has gone through a tremendous transformation over the past 6 or 7 years since it opened. It was great, then got way too large with over 1000 kids, and now is down to a manageable size. The principal and teachers we've encountered have been great (with one exception who is no longer there.) The traffic problems have been remedied.
It's a good school. Maybe not great, but good enough that I don't feel like needing to send my kids to a private school.
My child has been going to Natomas Park Elementary since Kindergarten. This is the best elementary in our district. I commend the teacher, children and parents for all of their involvement. Signed - Happy Mom
The traffic at this school is an absolute nightmare. Something needs to be done about it now before a student gets hurt. Where is school personnel helping to direct this traffic nightmare? This is a good school academically if your child gets the right teacher. The school and/or district does not do a good job of weeding out less competent teachers.
Overall level of the school is low, teacher quality is low, school is overcrouded and not managed efficiently. Safety level is low.
I really wish that there was more computer access or computer classes for the kids.
Academic programs are very average. Nothing out of the ordinary or especially intellectually stimulating for the kids. Teachers aren't too communicative. There are no music or sports programs whatsoever. There are also no art programs. Parents are not particularly involved. A lot of kids in our kids' classrooms do not do homework and are very disruptive. Lots of behavioral issues at this school. School does little to mitigate. We're moving out of the area and we will not miss this school or the parents. We would not recommend this school.
Like most of the teachers. However, some of them are pushier than I am used to.
The school is really suffering from budget cuts. Our fourth grader is really struggling from this. His teacher doesn't have any ta's to help the kids and the class size is about 35 kids, so she can't help them. Overall it is a very nice campus and the teachers have all been very helpful, but with the budget cuts, they just don't have the staffing they need to help all of the students to succeed.
Natomas Park Elementary has done a great job educating our son. This is his second year there. The teachers are very dedicated. There are high expectations of the children which is great. They should build more schools in Natomas Park. There are obviously too many students at this school; traffic getting to and from school is a nightmare. We've been very pleased with the school experience thus far.
Natomas Park is a good school, parking is difficult. I am hoping that there will be more enrichment classes for the students, music, dance, art. The teachers are great!
We ve just completed our first year with NPE. Our 4 (out of 6) kids went to NPE and they made a complete turnaround from their previous schools. They were medicore students there but outstanding students here at NPE. I can't say enough about this school. Their self-esteem, outlook, motivated learning and all that, has been contributed to by the wonderful staff at NPE. I'm worried about 2 of our kids being transferred to the middle school. It sounds like a horror story over there.
We have been at Natomas Park for three years and we have had excellent teachers and very involved parents. The traffic is definitely a safety concern and this year it is way overcrowded.
Our third year at this school I have seen some improvement in all areas and hope to see the continue progress within all areas of the school and with the growing community please do not let our school get over crowded!
