As a graduating senior this year, I have seen this school go from the good and the bad. This school is great for the kind of student that requires the kind of attention that a 500+ student campus needs. The classes are challenging enough to keep the average student entertained, while at the same time, students who require higher levels of instructional material will be wanting more. Thankfully, we are allowed to take classes at the local community college for free (with books) after sophomore year. The teachers are great and they know when to look after the students. Although the school is lacking in school pride, student organizations are looking to increase it. Over all HPHS is a great school with a bit of diversity. Students have been known to come from all over the Sacramento region and focus in their learning. GO CLASS OF 2011!
I graduated Health Profession High School (HPHS) in 2009. When I attended the school, we had a great variety of students and teachers. As an inaugural class member, I can only speak on the experiences I have seen at HPHS as a pioneering student. I had many opportunities to excel academically and prospectively. As students our opinion were heard and implemented. Great school at the time but, as my class graduated many good teachers and administrators were leaving; the academic progression at this school was coming to halt and we were loosing credibility as a specialized small high school.
I am currently a Senior at AABHPHS but unlike the other reviews mine isn't a good one....back in 2009 it was a great school i love our school til we started having issues with everything else. last year is when everything change....including our school hours and our schedule which everyone love and if you were already used to the schedule and system it really messed everything up...at first the school can seem like the right place especially since the teachers are so nice but the school it self sucks along with its management. And they seem to have a special fondness of allowing the students no freedom. I am more then glad to graduate from this school just so I never have to see it again.
My daughter has been a student at Health Professions since her freshman and is currently a junior. The faculty members are excellent and above my daughter is doing very well in school. She plans to become and Registred Nurse and with the way things are going, I am confident she will succeed!
Im a junior class of '11! mr perry needs to stay permanitt with ms. Clayton. Without them this school is out of control and nothing!
well i currently a 9th grader at hphs. in the beginning of the school year i didnt want to be here at all, but now i know this is the right school for me. if i had gone to a bigger high school i know i wouldnt have been focused on my work and i would be distracted by boys and drama. hphs is a small, safe, and nice high school. it is the right place for you even is you are not interested in the medical field.
My son goes to this school, I see it has a wonderful campus and staff. His teachers have a lot of hands on activities and stays in touch with parents! Love this school!
I am a Sophomore at HPHS (2011 graduation year) and am unsure of this school. It seems to me that most of the population does not want to be there, and many people of the africvan american population in the school resorts to pulling the 'racist card' to get what they want. I love the teachers and the hands'on learning, but there is an extreem amount of drama. I have personally been verbally attacked IN CLASS by a fellow student for asking her to be quiet because i could not here the teacher (she was gossiping very loudly with her friend on the other side of me), and the teacher did nothing. Also, the variety of classes is not what is needed and the staff does not allow the students to take charge of their own education. Also, there isn't much school spirit.
i hate this school. its horrible especially if your different from other students. theres a lot of fights off school capus, because students ride rt. the majority of the fights are due to the high female population. the location is also not very good for students that walk to school. the curriculum is also very limited. for some pupils the small school is appreciated, but for others its easier to spread rumore. all the students know one another and rumors spread quickly. i do love the hands on learning and the medical/health classes but i wouldnt recomend attending this school if you cant handle the drama.
I go to health profissions high and i am now going to become a sophmore of the year 08-09 , and the overall quality of the school is outstanding.. the teachers are great and the activities and labs are at their maximum....
