this school needs a new life! it just isnt the same. it needs new and improved educational skills, and it needs more parent involvement and better staff. Maybe a new name, and location and people working on better progressing the schools environment would help. Too much drama at this school therefore there is too much distraction. poor kids cant concentrate on their work because of all the threats etc.. bad environment, bad teaching skills. bad school. i would never send my child there.
This school was horrible. I do admit I am in my second year of highschool as I am tyoing this, but I went there for every year. My mother had to keep me there because she had no choice, if she could take me out of school, she would have done it as soon as she had the choice; due to a problem I had during those years, which I will not speak of, she had to call the school many times; they had blocked her cell phone because they were annoyed of her repeated calls! She had an emergency that required myself once and could not contact the school. This school had a bathroom fire! Some kid had decided to set the boy's bathroom on fire, and unsurprisingly the students had ran to look at it. I had to pull the fire alarm. This school doesn't deserve to have any property rights. I am glad it is not only being closed down for repairs, it is being renamed.
I enjoyed the school, and feel the staff (in exception to office staff who were rude and unkind) did as much as possilbe to mentor the kids in the right direction. My daughter was in the Gate classes and had a lot of great teachers, her history and science teachers were a favorite. I also think the principle did a great job communicating with the students and parents. LFG is a great example of where are schools are at this point, and we should find a way to improve the school for the community and students. Shutting it down will only leave an empty building for vandles and decay.
This school is the worst school, my daughter went here for 6th and 7th, and the beginning of the 8th I had to take her out because she was threatened by other students, the school did nothing. And the office staff is horrible, never friendly. I'm glad to hear it is closing.
This school is horrible. There were lots of fights, and I didn't feel safe in the school. It is old, and needs to be remodeled or something. I feel that some teachers did their best, but some of them would give us a lesson once, and expect us to take a quiz on it the next day. There were barely any electives, and no sports. I am glad that it is closing down. This school needs a lot of help.
I can only hope they really do close this school. It is frought with disorganization, excessive bullying, lazy staff and underperforming students. The GATE program is a joke - so my kid goes a grade up in math. That's it?? The teacher for the most part are great - save for a few who couldn't communicate with a parent if their life depended on it. Thankfully there are only 3 or 4 of those. If it hasn't improved in 4 years but has only gotten worse - close it.
A 3? It should be at least a 7 or an 8. It has a GATE Program, Band, Art, and much more. The teachers are wonderful. Nice and safe location.
The one thing I am liking about this school this year is there after school Target Excellence program. My kids are loving it there. The program keeps the kids busy and the staff is really there to look out for these kids.
I am in my 4th year as volunteer at this site. My daughter attended the school and is now in HS. I like the prinicpal and that is why I stay on. We need parents to step up and volunteer. If you are a State employee, use a portion of your furlough days to volunteer. The failure of this school lays on our shoulders. We need to model positive behavior. The union leadership in the NUSD is doing a disservice to our youth. They need to lay personalities aside and focus on the youth. We community members need to pay attention otherwise, we are facilitating the cradle to prison for our youth.
Today I have enrolled my child. Some of the Admin staff is helpful, others not so kind to kids. By observation, it seems that one of the staff members needs to treat the kids with respect like they want to be treated. Accusing a child up front of many strangers, as well as not knowing the story was unacceptable. I hope my child has a good year. I am giving the school and staff a chance from the bad history I have heard, so let's see how this school year will be.? Concerned parent.
