The principal, Mrs. Smith has managed to create a school that is not only the envy of the Sacramento City Unified School District, but also a school high on the parent's list of favorites. Through Mrs. Smith's leadership and the entire staff of this school, a school has been created that truly has concern and feeling for each and every student who attends.
Homework issued at this school is done in an understanding and concerned fashion. The staff teach the students the meaning of homework and how the completion of same will assist the students not only with their learning but also with their future.
The campus is very student friendly and clean. The staff are caring and concerned for each and every student. The atmosphere is one of happy, enjoyable learning. This school is a jewel in the Sacramento City School District.
This school is relatively small with a diverse population, teachers that care, and a supportive principal. Family are encouraged to participate and there is strong PTA support. There is a focus on technology, and extra curricular activities such as tutoring and clubs, and a school garden. When other schools lost their librarians this school kept theirs. My child, now in college, still lists one of the teachers here as her favorite of all the schools she attended. Office staff, yard duty, cafeteria staff, and some teachers are or were parents of students who attend this school or were even students here themselves. This is truly a community school.
This school was not a good fit for our family at all. While we loved the garden and technology aspects to the school we did not feel like the needs of our child were being met. Not every child fits a specific mold and there was little to no flexibility in this school.
