McKinnon School has a great atmosphere and that says a lot about a school. Parents and visitors have mention many times since we opened in August 2002 that they feel a great vibe when they walk in to our school office. It's all about teamwork, between every staff member that makes it a great school. The students, parents, staff and visitors feel welcome and this has an effect in everyone. The interest shown to every student makes them succeed academically in school. Many friends hear great things about McKinnon and decide to enroll their children at our school. There's no school like McKinnon Elementary.
I think the teachers at the school are great! They are very caring and genuine. I loved every teacher that was assigned my child. Especially my child's 1st grade teacher, she built a strong foundation. I am very thankful to her. All of the teachers had a positive impact. On the flip side I feel the Principal is lacking in controlling/disciplining the negative behavior of several of the students. I understand the Principal cannot oversee everything, but when it is brought to her attention and the bullying continues, something is definitely wrong with the system. My child love going to school until the bullying began. It broke my heart many times to see my child come home in tears. I regret bringing it to the Principal's attention, it taught my child not trust her.
My child has been attending McKinnon Elementary School since 1st grade. Having worked there with the teachers and staff, I know first hand what a tremendous school it is. The people there truely care about your children and the academic levels are incomparable. The Principal Mrs. Fisher has a genuine love for children and takes them to new levels. The only downfall to the school is because of lack of funding. I would have liked to have seen more afterschool activities available. More clubs offered. It all comes down to parent involvement. Their PTA works incredibly hard. I did feel extremely comfortable and confident with my child attending school there!
My children have been going to this school since it opened. My over all experience has been great. I have had 3 children in this school and as all parents know every child is different. One is an excellent straight A student who is verywell behaived, where as the other has difficulty in the learning process. The principal and teachers have been very helpful and understanding. This is a very good school with very good programs. It will hurt leaving this school.... ps... the kindergarden teachers are great....
I believe that McKinnon School is a wonderful school. They completely involve the parents in the activities and I am a member of the PTA which plays a big part in the school activities. My son is in Kindergarten and going on his second field trip of the year. He really adores his teacher and I thing she is wonderful also. Overall I am very happy with McKinnon School.
