I am a single parent that works two jobs 7 days a week, really don't have much time to teach my 7-year old at home. I can't speak for other parents and I don't know about other teachers in Creekside, but my daughter loves her teacher! She loves to talk about the school, her friends, and Ms. Wong (her first grade teacher). My daughter used to be shy and timid, and I was thrilled to see her open up and bloom into a happy flower!
My son started here last year, his 4th grade teacher was amazing, young, vibrant and really cared about my son. I got calls and updates all the time! She had him doing big reports, extra credit and he taught me stuff on the computer! My son now loves to read (a struggle before), and is excited about school. The school does have some problems with facilities and construction, but I think that will end soon. The teachers here make the school!
My son attends to Creekside Elementary School and we both love it! It's a really great school all of his cousins attends there as well and I must say that Creekside teachers have a way to teach our children all of the posibilities that you would never imagine that they are capable of doing! My son never had day care, pre-kinder or head start! He came in to kindergaten with out knowing hardly anything and now he was student of the month for most improvement and is now going to 1 st grade! Creekside is the best school in Monterey County! There teachers are the BEST and teaches the BEST!!
Creekside is a wonderful school that offers many outstanding programs to help children be succesful. My children have benifited from the excellent kindergarten and first grade teachers at the school. I feel that I have gotten more than a public education but a place in the cougar family. Go cougars
As a parent education is very important to our family. Since our children goes to public school that does not offer music and arts we as parents have to supplement that b sending our children to piano lessons and other sport activities ( our children do golf and swim competitively). We had a daughter that graduated here in Creekside and I know most of the teachers did their best in giving each students the best time in school, with the ratio of teacher to students is just to hard... I can say that parents/family involvement plays a great part in educating our children. The parents involvement in this school is poor. Good education starts at home.We can't afford to send our children with no manners in school, those are first learned at home. It is equal partnership for parents and teachers.
Creekside Elementary provides students with the opportunity to learn from quality teachers. It supports Literacy through its Reading Excellence Awards as well as through Literacy Month. Creekside offers after school tutoring and sports activities. The Parent Teacher Club sponsors fundraisers to help pay for field trips and classroom materials. Parents wanting to get involved can volunteer with their child's teacher or come to a PTC meeting. I am proud that my son attends a school with education as its priority and I look forward to my daughter starting Kindergarten in the Fall of 2007.
I had two children at Creekside for one for 6 years and one for 3 years. The education they received there was 'hit or miss'. Most of the teachers are really dedicated and students can learn; but the school is bogged down with other issues. No money for doing anything is a big factor. The school needs to get stable and needs to be able to manage their resources better. PTA tries to do things, but isn't always supported by families - partially because of transportation issues.
We sincerely expected a more family-friendly school. With the number of students and challenges of a diverse population, this school feels much more like a cattle stansion than a quality educational environment for our children.
great school. my kids loved it.
Parents of this school are not involved in the overall school environment compared to other schools in the state and I think this is a key factor in the school's academic failure rate. I have offered to volunteer in my children's classrooms every year and it surprises me when teachers, that have 30 students in their class, refuse my services! Some teachers at this school do not want to challenge their students and that's what we need are more dedicated teachers.
