Sad this school does not have greater funding. My child went to this school, but then we were accepted to a different school and district and gladly accepted. What a difference. The office in my child's new school is helpful and friendly and the district is as well. The parents participation is great. Fundraisers are always going on but are very successful and helps keep the programs going on year around. My child's class has a lower head count in class and does not have children coming in and out distracting other kids in class or mixed grades in same class. Also goes full day instead of just 3 hours. Just because there is a lack of funding shouldn't cause the staff to treat you like your not even there.
Parents need to realize that money for after school help (tutoring) and summer school comes from state funding...which Mission Park and 2 other schools in the district, received next to nothing. Suggestion: get involved in School Site Council...great way to learn about funding...or lack of.
Great teachers and principal. Great PTA and good parental involvement.
In response to the parent that would like bi-lingual help in the office. Would that be Italian? This is an excellent school. I am blessed to be able to send my kids here.
This is a great school if you're in the Salinas area. Teachers are wonderful, but I wish they would offer Summer school or some kind of extra help or tutoring for the kids.
Academic Programs are great. Lots of access to computers, science, music etc. Parent involvement is wonderful, however I feel the school would benefit from bridging the gaps in regard to cultural issues. No one in the front office is bilingual-which in my opinion, considering the area, they should make that available.
My children have been at this school since kindergarten. The teachers and staff are the best I have ever seen. It means alot when you can walk on campus any time and all you see are smiling faces, from all around.
Feel that Mission Park need to focus on safety, sanitation(especially in bathrooms), control students' behavior from other districts and involve parents more. They need to address health and extra curricular activities, especially P.E.
