SHS is a wonderful school. I attended part of my freshman year and fell in love with it. The teachers are great always hands on with the students.

This school has many good things to offer including great teachers and a good campus environment. Also home to horrible administration. Any class that is not an advanced class is lacking in both content and teaching method.

The school has declined significantly since Joseph pawlick was dismissed. There is still some great programs but they are being dismantled and parent support is falling off dramatically.

As a compresive high school, Salinas High serves all levels, incomes and abilities, and does a pretty good job. That's quite a challenge in a school of over 2400 students. Unfortunately, there has been a lot of infighting, but overall, most teachers and staff really have the student's best interests at heart. My advice to parents is to be involved at the school, and volunteer whereever you can. It's such a big school, the more you know about it the better, including which teachers to steer toward and which to steer away from. Besides, everyone benefits when parents are invoved.

I have been delighted with the quality of teachers, the strength of the curriculum, and its strong performing arts program. The school's numerous music and drama programs surpass other public and private schools in the area. The principal is dedicated to maintaining meaningful college prep and honors courses.

Joe Pawlick is Salinas High's greatest asset. Without him, I would have sent my children to private school.
