I used to be a student there and i hope it changed drastic since 07'. I had a horrible experience there i was a honor student, the staff were very rude and i ended up changing schools. I later got a letter from the school district they wanted to have a meeting about the situation they strongly believed that MIDDLE COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL violated my student rights by harassing me. I did not attend the meetings because i was so traumatized. i advise parents to really get involved with their child's school to avoid situations like mine.
This is a wonderful program that allows you to achieve your goals. I was very fortunate to be a part of this program.
My grandson just grad. from MCHS and has been accept to Ca Poly Pomona..It is by far the best school..The teachers and staff are great. They really care about each student...The students are treated with respect.. Thanks MCHS for everything....
My brother and I were both students at MCHS. The teachers were caring and dedicated. The staff was very accessible and very supportive. I graduated from there with a high school diploma and an AA Degree in 2005 and my brother graduated in 2006 with a high school diploma and AA Degree as well. I have now graduated from the #1 public school in the country (UC Berkeley) only two years after graduating from high school and my brother is on the path to doing the same thing. For this reason I feel that MCHS has prepared my brother and I well and is the best choice for a high school that San Bernardino has to offer.
MCHS is an awesome high school for students who are ready and willing to accept the challenge. There is rigorous course work, long school days, much studying required, and of course the transition from a regular kid to one that takes on college courses on top of a full high school load. This school actually expects their students to succeed rather than be surprised when they do. The instructors they are fantastic, always willing to help as best they can in whatever way they can. Although the main office may be busy at times, the staff there does the best they can to run an entire school with less than 10 people. Having been a student there from 2001-2004 was not only one of the best educational experiences but also life experiences that I've had. It made me grow up and be responsible, it was awesome.
I am a current student at Middle College High School. I am a junior here and have attended this high school since sophomore year. I consider my High school to be one of the best High Schools in San Bernardino and California. I do not say that it is one of the best High Schools in this Nation because it would be biased of me to say so not having been familiarized with other High schools. The teachers are excellent, their personalities are great, and they are completely professional. The fact of us as High School students taking college classes is great. We are prepared to what to expect at a 4 year college or university. Overall this is a great high school and if I were presented the choice of staying at MCHS or going back to my previous High school, I would choose to stay at Middle College.
-Principal/program coordinator bette vest is phenomenal as are all staffers in their unique ways. -Advancement through individual determination (avid) is fundamental but there are also seemingly endless tutoring and other individualized assistances! -My aquinas dual honors entering freshman daughter transferred as soon as she qualified ( sophomore ); made honor guard; kept national honor roll & who's who of north american high schoolers, etc. She's now a junior reasonably anticipating acceptance to claremont mckenna college for her ppe/pre law prior to entering chapman school of law. -Academically, there is no better option! -Socio-conomically, there are the issues of the open campus and the wide spectrum comprising the student body at sbvc, but, school security is adept and water seeks it's own level in the end; don't let the demographics dissuade you! -Thanks to compound interest, (and shaving at least 2 years tuition bills from family budgets)! Perfect financial sense for parents and dedicated students! We are pleased beyond our expectations ! susana atanasova
I have been very impressed with Middle College High School. The teachers are excellent. They are both knowledgeable and caring. Access to the office staff including the counselor is a bit difficult. I believe they should change the office hours so that they don't open so early but are available after school. Everyone at the school is to be commended for their caring spirit and their willingness to help students succeed. The communication home to parents could be improved.
My daughter is one of the students in Middle College High School's first graduating class. She was recruited by the counselor because of her high grade point average and strong academic skills. Last evening we attended the 'crossing' ceremony and were astounded to find that all students who attained the Associates degree in conjunction with their High School Diploma received a wonderful scholarship that will allow them to attend Cal State University San Bernardino. All students in the graduating class passed both parts of the High School Exit Examination. My daughter enrolled in and passed with a grade of 'b', Algebra 101(which is transferable to Cal State) the summer following her junior year and this was due to the dedication of her Middle College Algebra teacher. My daughter only attended two of a three year program but will graduate high school with 30 college units. Great opportunity - great school!
My daughter had not spent a lot of time at MCHS. She had enrolled late and the administration was having difficulty getting spaces in the college courses. The atmosphere is excellent; the kids are super; the teachers are great. But the administrators are all-in-all awful. The principal doesn't know what she's talking about and the counselor doesn't know what he's doing. The receptionist, I have to applaud, however, seeing how she must run everything from amok to satisfactory, at the least. I think that if my daughter had only been enrolled on time, she would have done well. The kids are recognized as kids trying to grow up, and thereon respected, and thereon trusted. The kids know that with this respect and trust, they earn responsibilities, which they all follow. The teachers are also respected and trusted in return. Overall, I have to say MCHS is pretty good.
