I love that the only people rating this school as even satisfactory are students who can`t spell! It obviously says a lot about the quality of education being passed out.
Its not right that people think its a bad school, when it is not a bad school. Its not the teachers, its the students. Many students don't take the time to study and its their chocies that affect them alone. Also it is at time the Parents, they don't tell there children to study, go to college and "..have a better life then i had...". The parents simply need to push their kids if they don't there is a chance that thier child wont go anywhere it life. I am a proud student of Pacific High School and i am proud to say that i am a Student of Pacific High School! One More thing sometimes the Principal affects students in some ways. We need a Principal that has strong leadership and respect to all the students. Thanks for reading.
Maybe the students need to pay attention in class and not be on the cell phone texting. Because of texting students don't know how to spell. When I was at Pacific we learned reading, writing, math, history, etc. Today you kids are just passing the time of day and not learning anything. Wait until you get in the working world -- bad English, pants below the waist, texting, etc., doesn't go in the work place. Not even at McDonalds.
my view of pacific high school are bad. Every time i turn around there was some girls harassing my children at school. they talked about their hair because they thought that it was a weave. they said my children were stuck up. they harassed my children ever since they started at pacific. As far as im concerned that school needs a serious overhaul and the riots were still goin on in 2009. Because my children had to wait until it was over to walk home. My rating on pacific high school is very poor as far as safety goes.
To all the parents that tink that pacific is a bad schoo that is so not true. I'm a student at Pacific and what i ahve relize its not that the teacher let the students do what ever they want its that most of the students dont care and don't jst balme everthing on the teacher. Its also the parents falt that they r not keeping track on what their child is doing. They way they act at home might be different from the way they act at school. I should now i seen it with my own to eyes. Its also so who your child hangs around with.
Pacific is one of the worst schools I have ever had to send my children to, the test scores are horrible. It's very hard to keep my child on task when there is so many other students who are allowed to do any and everything they want during class time. My child is an 'A' student who maintains a 3.5 GPA, but I'm fortunate to have a child that isn't afraid to hold teachers accountable. But what happens to those students who don't have that gift? Some teachers are constantly telling the students that they aren't going to College anyway, it's obvious that there is a major overhaul needed on that campus. The only reason why my child continues to go to Pacific is only because they have to, I wish I was able to transfer them out.
PHS was a ok school not very clean and there is alot of racism there too. they need to clean up the school and the books. although they did have really good teachers.
PHS! Yeah, Pacific Purple Pirates! Well, Pacific High has helped me and especially it's academic programs like AVID. Because our school is credited as the National Demonstration School, I have gained many benefits like college acceptances and scholarships. Since 2005-2006, Pacific has improved greatly. If you hang with college- bound students, you will probably will have positive influence yourself as an academic student. Many of AP and Honors teachers are very supportive and they prepare you for college. This is pretty much all. YEAH, C/o' 09!
As a parent I was hesitant to send my son to any San Bernardino city school, let alone Pacific. However, my son has a 4.0 in honors classes, participates in the football, wrestling and baseball programs. He enjoys going to school, has the respect of students and teachers. I have never gone to the school and been dissatisfied with any answer I was looking for. Unfortunately with the schools reputation it does not get the best and brightest students that the city has to offer thus the reputation persists. Yes the school needs a major face lift, from the lack of room for its athletic department to its antiquated auditorium. I believe this would go a long way toward a turnaround in its enrollment of better students and athletes. GO PIRATES
Pacific has made a lot of improvements this year. Their new principal is really determined to help improve the school and they have hired many new qualified teachers. Student involvment and pride is increasing.
This school need a major overhaul. Low test scores and some counselors do not assist the students. It's getting so bad that parents are even afraid to pick students up from school.
I visited my sons class after 10 minutes of sitting there, the teacher Had to send 3 students out for behavior issues. In the 35 minutes that I was there, no teaching took place. I cried after all the students left because my son is not going to learn anything this year and he is in special education. Many of the students in his class are there because of behavior, not because they need the extra help. I will be taking my son out by the end of this month, home schooling will be better for him and less stressful for me. Parents need to check on their children if they really care about education There needs to be more involvement and discipline from parents.
The academic programs are greatly wanting and the extracurricular are plagued with the constant transient teacher population. The parent involvement is near nonexistant unless they want to complain somehow their children were mistreated when they were merely disciplined. I would be afraid to send my children here under any circumstance and am glad their high school days are behind them.
Pacific has a solid academic program with numerous athletic teams and other extracurricular opportunities. In 2004-05, the school implemented a Smaller Learning Community for incoming 9th grade students that greatly decreased the ninth grade drop-out rate. The school struggles with many of the problems that other inner-city schools face--attendance, discipline, and test scores--but the administration and staff work diligently to keep things in check. There doesn't seem to be a lot of parent involvement at the monthly School Site Council meetings or the yearly Back to School Faire, and the administration is always trying to find ways to address that and increase community support.
Student discipline is a big issue. The administration are doing all that they can do but most of the students do not care about their future. It is a very difficult enviornment for teachers to work in.
Pacific High School is in need of a major over hall. My daughter took the test to get out of school early because of the violence there. Not only are the students violent and unrespectful but the teachers there are afraid to adminsister any disapline.
I am a graduate of Pacific. I transferred there 3 weeks into the 2001-2002 school year. Coming from a great school (Lamar HS-Arlington, TX) Pacific was a joke. My brother is a freshman this year and I am saddened that he will not receive an education of any quality at Pacific. The teachers have no control over their classes. The computer program is a disgrace. But the sports are great! I did not feel safe at Pacific. it is a closed campus and we are caged in by tall iron gates which are padlocked as soon as the bell rang. With the school being that close to Perris Hill, I feared for my safety if there was a wildfire. it isn't like the gates kept anyone in. Truancy was still high. If you have to send your child to Pacific, don't get me wrong, I did grow to like it there, and it is about average with the schools in San Bernardino, but I recommend a private school over anything.
