We are very happy with El Crystal. My kid is in kindergarten and I am amazed with his progress in reading and writing. His teacher (Mrs. Millett) makes learning fun and he comes home excited, talking about all the fun experiments they did. They are very hands on and that makes a lot of difference in their learning.

Wish I could give 5 more stars. El Crystal STEM magnet school is fantastic. The teachers are well trained, tech savvy problem solvers. The principal is on the bleeding edge of technology and always finds a way to implement instruction using the latest technology. This school absolutely sold when my when my third grader asked if you could use my computer so that he could upload a document to his teacher. FANTASTIC!!!

My son currently goes here and is in the first grade and he loves it! This school is fantastic! The teachers are all so great and really care about the education the kids are receiving. The principal is just as involved and is just as committed as the teachers. The extra bonus is that El Crystal is a STEM school, Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. I couldn't ask for a better place to send my son and look forward to the day when my daughter will attend as well. Go Wildcats!

The teachers at El Crystal are amazing my husband and I could not be happier. All of the teachers are extremely helpful especially when it comes to questions concerning curriculum. Also, the Principal is very active with the students, teachers, and families, you can find him leading the kids every morning in the pledge of allegiance, running kickball games with the kids or meeting with teachers. The STEM curriculum is always forward thinking fun and hands on. The families are very involved and the PTA provides so many family activities to make sure the community is strong.

We transferred to El Crystal in the Fall of 2013, when it became a STEM magnet school. Not one day has gone by that we (me, my husband and child) have had any regrets. Through the years, our child wasn't as animated about learning as he once was. At a very young age, our child was able to entertain himself by drawing very detailed pictures and writing creative stories. As the years passed, he no longer was able to or had the interest to engage in activities that he once did and made him happy. Within a couple of months after starting at El Crystal, his zest for learning and creating was back! Learning is "cool" at El Crystal and exploration is encouraged. The teachers are highly dedicated to each and every student (and families) and have the capability to bring out the best in every student...academically, emotionally and socially. The principal has "wow'd" us from the first time we met him. He is dedicated to his school (teachers, students, families) and is genus in writing grants to purchase products to enrich the STEM program. I will forever be grateful to El Crystal for helping to nurture our child the last 2 years.

If I could give El Crystal six stars, I would! This school is amazing, and I am often surprised that it's a public school. The programs they have are fantastic. This school is the only school in our district that has a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) program. I wasn't sure what that meant, until my kids were (literally) hands deep into it. The program calls for a strong collaboration and hands on learning, which helps the kids to learn and grow. With the recent Common Core standards introduced, it was a fairly seamless transition for this school, since they had successful implementation of this type of learning environment. This school is small and I love that. It has more of a family feel to it, and there are teachers that greet me by name that I don't even know. Somehow, they know all students and families. The staff is amazing, they genuinely love the kids. It doesn't seem that this is just a job to them. Homework is encouraged to send in online. It gets my kids excited to do homework and the technology aspect of it prepares them better for middle school, high school and the work force. My only regret is that we didn't find this little gem sooner!!

El Crystal is one GREAT school for your child to attend. The staff is amazing: competent, trustful, engaging teachers with effective teaching styles (we were in Ms. Mooers K class last year, and are currently with Ms. Pence, both AMAZING). When our daughter, an ESL student, learned to read and write within 2-3 months last year, we couldn't be happier. We see her progress every day. Good lunches too. The principal and the office manager are very approachable, helpful, and pleasant with parents. Upon moving to San Bruno from San Francisco last year, we were considering a private school, but El Crystal became everything (and more) we were hoping for, for our child. And did I mention that they have STEM program integrated in curriculum?!.. 6 STARS, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

I attended school in one of the world's top 5 public systems, and I can say with certainty that because of the stem focused curriculum, my kindergartener is learning concepts I didn't know about until the fifth and sixth grades. I am routinely impressed with his knowledge of scientific inquiry and his exposure to critical thinking even in kindergarten! They have a music program, physical education, and they have somehow instilled in my son a love of reading. His teacher, Ms. Mooers, also ensures kindergarten is fun and has plenty of creative projects for them. I have had the opportunity to observe the class frequently because el crystal school encourages parent involvement. It's also within walking distance and is a fantastic, diverse and tight knit community school. We checked out multiple private schools as well, as we were willing to pay top dollar for a quality education, but we have this and more at el crystal school. The money we are saving we are able to put towards many extracurricular activities such as basketball camps, additional music lessons and towards his college fund. Very thrilled with this school!

My child just started Kindergarten at El Crystal this year and has had tremendous improvement already in his reading skills and writing. His teacher is fabulous! She really connects with the children. The staff is wonderful and so far we are loving it here and feel it is a great fit for our child. The STEM program is a great method of teaching, we can always emphasize more on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics! Technology alone will be a major part in all of our kids futures!

We transferred from another public school 2 years ago....my children weren't getting enough science or social studies or technology. They are so happy here! I am happy too with the sense of community I feel. The best part is the teachers are younger and are willing to experiment with new ways of teaching....not the same old--read, write, listen, regurgitate. My kids are involved and engaged. Most lessons combine writing, reading, internet research, math and science. They really are able to put all those items into lesson. Loving it here!

El Crystal is a great school with a highly Trained Professional Staff. Since moving both of my daughters to El Crystal they have excelled in their education. I would have to give credit to the Principle Skip Johnson for his dedication and commitment to our kids education. He has developed a Great Staff of educators that are committed to raising the bar of education even in this challenging times of budget cuts. With all being said El Crystal is going to be a STEM Magnet School in the 2013/2014 School Year. The school has innovation and Technology moving our kids future into the 21st century. I am excited about the change and proud to be parent of the El Crystal family.

My daughter went to El Crystal, we were very happy. The principal and staff were great, it is a small school community like a family, everyone knows your children. The PTA is strong, many school activities and an excellent art program. El Crystal was an awesome experience, we were sad to move on.

Both my children attended this school -- it's a small school, so you and your kids are not a number here; the principal and the teachers know EVERYBODY by name. It was a bit less the case with my second child because there was a lot of teacher turnover (retirements, young teachers moving/starting a family, etc.), but it was still very friendly and close-knit. There are plenty of opportunities to volunteer, and the principal and teachers are very welcoming and appreciative. A jewel of a school!

I love this school family. This is a school where the principal knows every kid. That is very important to me. Very strong PTA and lots of PTA events to raise money for the kids needs.

Very friendly, small, close-knit school. Children well-behaved. Like most public schools, the curriculm lacks in Arts and Music, but we supplement with private classes on the weekends.
